Notes:
First of all, when rating this video, you are rating the music video and my ability to put scenes together. NOT THE MOVIE. Yes the movie is great (IMO of course) and thats why I chose it. ANOTHER THING. I will remove any comment that I deem as Elitist or racist. I've seen many of the comments posted on the Iwo Jima video clips, and I'll appreciate if you leave that drama off of my video. Once again, you are judging my compilation, not whether or not you like japan.
Okay now since that is out of the way, I'd like to offer a few comments of my own about my video. This is my first music video I've done since February '06. (My previous was a "Memoirs of a Geisha" video.) Obviously I am going to be a little rusty with my video editing software. I tried to focus on NOT using too much special effects. A huge problem that has gotten me incredibly frustrated with it though is the video rendering in alot of the clips, the got very blotchy and pixely. Effects used in this video::
*Glow
*Gaussian Blur
*Luminescence Mask
*Altered the clip speed a little
*Flash (transition)
*Fade (transition)
I also did NOT want to just shove my favorite/all intense scenes into this video. That does not make a good video IMO. The video is driven more by story and implied information rather than all guns and killing and rapid fire scenes that match the drum tracks. I want to show that the feeling of war is the same on both sides of the battle. Soldiers lose their families and friends, but also learn alot about themselves and who they are fighting against. Lol.. at around after the second chorus I got VERY lost in what kinds of scenes I needed to use there while still keeping the general theme, so I basically just put in some filler.
There was a scene.. actually TWO sets of dialogue that I really wanted to include in this video but I just could not find a place for it. They are the scenes when the artillery commander (don't know my ranks, sorry if i get it wrong) reads the american soldier's letter from home to the other japanese soldiers, and the beginning dialogue when Saigo is writing a letter to his wife Hanako.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoy my video. Its been a long time and I think I'm going to get back into this hobby again. I spent roughly 2-3 weeks on it, 6+ hours a day. Probably one of the shortest I've spent on a video, but I put alot of effort into it.
Please tell me what you think. =]
