Nokia 6125 with GDI theme (part 1) No need to mention it sucks, because it's my first self-made theme and first tries usually (More) No need to mention it sucks, because it's my first self-made theme and first tries usually suck.
I'm sorry about the poor quality of the video, I don't own a digital camcorder so I taped the whole thing with my Canon PowerShot A510 digital camera which isn't really suitable for recording video files :D also, it seems that I finally experienced the "lagging sound" problem YouTube has with this video, e.g. the shutdown sound should be playing immediately when the static appears on the phone screen. I tried to fix this by including sound to the last 13-14 seconds of the clip and making it a separate video:

As the title says, this video is showcasing my cell phone (rather new, bought it about a week ago) theme which I made with Nokia S40 Theme Studio 2.2. It is based on Command & Conquer video game series and tries to imitate the 1995 look of Global Defense Initiative's (GDI) Electronic Video Agent (EVA) interface seen during some of the cutscenes from the first game, Tiberian Dawn. This video is mainly meant for my friends at #c&c.fi @ QuakeNET, the IRC channel of the leading Finnish fan community for Command & Conquer fans.
Some trivia for those who are interrested:
-the small green text you see at the very beginning of the video during the phone's start up sequence says "PLEASE STAND BY". This is directly from a cutscene in Tiberian Dawn, the first C&C game ever made
-the "attacking hawk" logo is the symbol for GDI, a fictional military faction created by United Nations in 1995 to counteract terrorist threats
-two sound files are used from Red Alert 1: they can be heard when I "flip" the phone closed or open it. The close sound is used in RA1 when you select a target from the map screen and game tells you to wait while it loads up a briefing video
-ALL the graphics and sounds (except the two above-mentioned ones) are directly from Tiberian Dawn's cutscenes (even the STAND BY text on the miniscreen is a screengrab). I tried to keep modifying the graphics as minimal as possible but some things had to be changed because of better functionality e.g. I added a blueish background to the miniscreen's "grid" wallpaper (which is directly from GDI's score screen)
-I tried to imitate the color scheme as closely as possible. This includes a black background, grey items and light and dark green font colour
-also featured (but alas not heard on this video) are new sounds for default ringtone (beepy6.aud, I added a little pause so it wouldn't be a single annoying tone), incoming message (country1.aud) and calendar notification (newtarg1.aud)
-for extracting and modifying the cutscene graphics I used XCC tools, Ulead Photoimpact Capture, Adobe Photoshop CS, Animation Shop 3.04 and MS Paint. The sounds were extracted with XCC tools and MP3 compression was done with GoldWave 4.24
-the song which I play in my music player is a 1982 live version of "New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)" by Simple Minds. This version of the song (with video footage from the actual performance) can be found in the excellent "Seen the Lights: a Visual History" double-DVD box set. I also modified the audio feed on this file so you could hear the music better (I left the sound effects untouched)
I'm not sure if I'm going to upload this theme for everyone to use. Well, at least not before I make Nod (the enemy faction in Tiberian Dawn) and Red Alert 1 themes :P (Less)
