Ok, so it seems my nervs (More) Me performing Blame and an untitled poem at the Poetry Cafe open mic
Ok, so it seems my nervs made me speak a bit too fast, here's the poem below
It's gotta be someone's fault
It's gotta be someone's negligence
That leads to all this happening
We hear the Ambulance and Police sirens
After screams or gun shots firing
It's gotta be someone's doing?
Some of us are busy booing these "Devil Music Makers"
Claiming they're the reason why kids are forsakers
And takers of intoxicating mind breakers
Others say it's the violent movies that glorify killing
It's a chilling story, when a baby gets kidnapped
And placed on a train track
Some say it's the parents
But just as appearance can be deceiving
The onus of blame does often not want believing
When Diana died in the early hours of the morning
The world was in mourning and we were all in shock
Our jaws dropped, it was almost as if time had stopped
Indeed we lost a great lady that day
News spreads faster than bullet trains
Felt like we were all standing in heavy rain
So now human brains are looking for someone to blame
There's gotta be someone at fault?
So we look, and search for a viable scapegoat
Now maybe your individual views have some differences
But it seems the general consensus is
That the photographers were the root cause of this
"The paparazzi
They were chasing her down the street
Why couldn't they just let her be?"
Stop that train I wanna get off
Now if we examine this for a minute
And look just a little deeper into it
We'll see that the driver was drunk, twice the legal limit
You can't drive if your system has that much alcohol in it?
Plus he was speeding
So it's hardly surprising he lost control of steering, when the photographers gave chase behind him
But before we all jump on Henri Paul
After all there was a bodyguard involved
And he wasn't drinking
So he should have been clear in his thinking and actions
Should have never let her get in the back seat
Or at least offer to drive the Mercedes
And if he couldn't see
That the driver was inebriated
Then protecting people is not an appropriate vocation
But before we all get on Trevor Rees' back
Let's not ignore the fact, that Diana was 36
Younger than the age of responsibility
But old enough to understand her own mortality
She made a decision, it cost her, her life.
But let's go back and analyze this again
The part about the paparazzi taking photo's of them
And think about it for just a second
And let's see if we can try and comprehend
Why were they?
Truth is we all like looking at pictures of celebrities
Now just to be clear of where I'm going with this
Everything happens, because either directly or indirectly, there is a market for it
You see the fact of the matter is
We may not be directly involved
But somewhere down the line our benefit is the goal
Everybody talking about the "War on Terror" and that it's really about "the oil"
So we shout at the top of our lungs saying "We don't want your war it's not worth the physical and mental and emotional scars"
But do you really think anybody would give a shit about oil if we didn't drive so many cars?
It's for our benefit
Whether or not you realise it
Now if you can honestly raise your hand
And proclaim you have no interest such things
Don't think for a second that makes you exempt
We've all sat across from the woman crying on the opposite bench
And did nothing
We know about violence in schools and in the streets
We turn a blind eye so many times we forget how to see
And convince ourselves that it's not our problem; it's nothing to do with us
We're so self righteous
But turn coward when actually confronted
Might as well be lame
We use our mouths to place blame on video games
But what we don't do is. Anything about it
You see, it takes a village to raise a child
We're always looking for someone to blame
It's harder to look inside ourselves and admit that we need to change
Because fault, lies with everyone (Less)
