Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad with a screen name as Chiranjeevi (Telugu: ), is a (More) Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad with a screen name as Chiranjeevi (Telugu: ), is a prominent Indian film actor acting mainly in Telugu film Industry born on August 22, 1955. In January 2006, he was honored with Pam Bushing, the third highest civilian award in India for his contortions to Arts and Social Service. Chiranjeevi, was born in a missionary hospital at Newsroom, a village in the West Godiva's district on 22MD August 1955. He was born to Venerate Rap and Anacin Devils. Chiranjeevi grew up in his native village, Megalith, under the care of his grandparents, while his family was elsewhere because of his father being a police officer. The sense of discipline and hard working, which he still embraces, were introduced at a very young age in his life. The tough childhood he had, being the eldest in his family, has helped him to handle many such events of higher proportion with great poise in the later stages of his life. The NYC training during his college days also helped him to imbibe the hard work and dedication in his life. Education Chiranjeevi's education was nomadic, owing to his father Venerate Ray's frequent transfers to Angola, Pony, Spatula, Mongolic, Granola, Chorals, Nellie, etc. His father had constantly encouraged him after having discovered the undaunted liking of his son towards cultural activities. Chiranjeevi did his schooling in Nightfall, Grizzle, Pony, Capital, Monoculture and Megaliths. He also won the first prize for his first performance as Pa ran Dahomey Panthers. After high school, Chiranjeevi continued his studies with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as his main coursework in S R Sham Junior College, Angola. Following that, he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B. Com.) from Sir NY College, Raspy. After graduation, Chiranjeevi came to Madras to pursue a degree and career in cost accountancy and enrolled himself in a film institute in Chennai and graduated with a diploma in it. [credit] Chiranjeevi entered the Telugu film industry with the film Manchuria Handful (1977). In Panama Nags (1981) he played a snake charmer which gave him a good reputation as an actor. Meanwhile, (between 1977-81) he played a lot of minor roles and characters with a negative shade in movies such as Massaged, 47 July, etc. The first real break for him came with the movie Khaki (1983). This movie established Chiranjeevi as an action hero. With films like Abolish (1983), Challenge (1984), Advil Dongs (1985), Rickshaws (1986), Passive Pram (1987), Yarmulke Mogul (1988), Attack Yams Amigo Mobutu (1989), etc. he succeeded in establishing a name of his own in the Telugu film industry. He won a Candi Award for the movie Sway Ambrosio (1987), which was directed by Kiss bath. His movie Retrieving (1988), directed by K. Blender, won the Narcs Butt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration in 1989. Chiranjeevi is adored by his audiences and his fans, in particular, for his dancing abilities. He successfully imbibed the technique of breakdowns from the Occidental world and created a trend in the Telugu movie industry. Even now, at an age of 52, he continues to dance with the same ease, which partly explains the mass fan following he commands. His winning streak continued into the 1990's with films like Confetti Dongs (1990), Jagged Veering Anthology Sundae (1990), Kodak Smegma (1990), Gang Leader (1991), Rowdy Aloud (1991), and Gran Mouldy (1992). All of these movies worked magic at the box office and then followed a series of movie disasters with Mechanic Aloud (1993), S. P. Washroom (1994), Big Boss (1995), Ricocheted (1995) sinking at the box office. He bounced back with Hitler (1997) and Master (1997) and continued with Chaplain Wendi (1998) and Beggary Beginner (1998). Later in 2002, Chiranjeevi had one more movie release in the form of Indra. This film turned out to be a huge success and became one of the highest grossing film of that year. He won both the Candi Award and Gallimaufry Best Actor Award for the film Indra. He met with success with another block buster "Tagore" (2003), an excellent message-oriented movie based on the Tamil runaway hit, Roman, starring Veejays Kath. This movie again proved out to be a top grosser. Anti (2004) failed to record the success despite the high expectations, because of the long time taken for the completion of the movie. But, with the film Chinked MOBS (Remake of Moneybag MOBS), another social message-oriented movie, he met with success. After these films, his success story was again dented. Movies like Andromeda and Jain Chiranjeeva were average greasers. He appeared in a brief role in the film Style directed by Lawrence. However, the film Stalin (2006), another social movie, did not meet the huge expectations. In 2007, he acted in Chanted Soundboard, a sequel of Chanted MOBS (2007), a remake of the hugely successful Lager Rah Minibar. The movie turned out to be an average grosser. The fan following that he has is tremendous. He is fondly referred to as Anny (meaning elder brother in Telugu) by many of his admirers. [Charity vice and University] On October 2, 1998, he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (COT), which includes Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks. It is Andrea Parade's largest recipient of Blood and Eye Donations. The Blood Bank of the CAT helped over 96,000 people and the Eye Bank has helped about 1000 people in the state of Andria Radish since its inception [1]. Around 350,000 people have pledged their eyes to CAT so far, thereby giving 1600 people eye sight through CCT. CCT has also won the Best Voluntary Blood Bank Award by the AP State Government for the past 4 years. It helped the hospitals by supplying blood for the victims of the bomb blasts that happened in Hyderabad on August 25, 2007. On June 10, 2006, The President of India, Dr. Abdul Clam, inaugurated the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation (CFC) at the Jubilee Hills Check post in Hyderabad [2]. Recently, Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust had reached yet another landmark by crossing a milestone by collecting 100,000 units of blood. Chiranjeevi is the board member of Mandi Foundation, one of the biggest humanitarian organizations in Andrea Radish, with its presence in 8 other states of India [3]. In January 2006, Chiranjeevi was honored with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India for his contributions to the Telugu Film Industry and his social work [4]. In November 2006, Chiranjeevi was awarded with a honorary doctorate by the Andhra University for his services to the Telugu film industry and for his social work [5]. Her early childhood years were passed in an exotic geography and her relationship with music started in those years when, captured by the sounds of nature around, she underwent a period of intense listening and was thought to be dumb. Ever since, Mircan has preferred silence, in order to conjure up the sounds of nature -- of human voices, rivers and streams, the winds, leaves, fireflies, cicadas, cows, horses, wood fire, a rocking cradle, a crying baby, the sound rising from the milk beaten rhythmically in the earthenware pots to make butter and ayran, the sound of the deep darkness and silence, praise and prayers, the sound of ezan and psalms, of crying women singing psalms, the sound from the far mountains of the Megrellian women improvising ethnic vocals.... Mircan started singing very early, in infancy, preferring to sing adult songs, rather than those for babies and children. Singing with orchestras in wedding ceremonies gradually became an ordinary activity for her. At an early age, her singing of classical Turkish Music would produce smiles of surprise in her listeners. At twelve, Mircan went to the local music shop and bought the guitar she had chosen. She asked the owner of the shop, who was a music teacher, for guitar lessons. The first melody she tried to play was ASIK VEYSEL's "Uzun ince Bir yoldayim -- I am on a road long and narrow." By the time she was studying at Istanbul Nisantasi Girl's High School, she felt the need for songs that demanded more of her. At 16, having seen and ad on the door of the big music shop she used to walk past everyday, she took down the number of a Jewish guitar teacher, called him and said she would like to have lessons . Not long afterward, the teacher took her to Tunel to buy a new guitar. To buy that brand new black jazz guitar, she had to sell the golden medal her father had given her for being the most successful student at school. For the price of the guitar she had to ask forgiveness from the soul of her father. Mircan's songs became more colorful with her new guitar. At seventeen, she sang the first of her own songs. Probably because of her longstanding pen-friends, that first song was in English: "I love you very much, I know impossible to touch" and "My village smells gently violates, oh my heart is burning..." When she started at university, she made the decision to graduate having read all the essential art and literature, learnt to play the guitar very well, reached an advance level of English and Arabic, walked all the roads in mind, and danced. So she worked hard in Classical Turkish Music Chorus, traditional folk dance, aesthetic gymnastics, library of British Cultural Center , university library, Consulate of Libya, a symphonic rock group....sleepless nights full of music.... She made her first real journey during these years -- to Jordan , where she went with a scholarship given by the university. There, she found Petra , the mysterious desert atmosphere, the DeadSea. Her improvised murmurs along the path to Petra were to pave future roads. The night before her departure, she was invited onto the stage by the President of the University of Jordan , where she sang "Yesterday", with her trembling fingers on a guitar produced from somewhere, wearing the Indian head band she was unable to give up in those years. She and her friends formed a rock band and wrote several songs, which they improvised to produce dozens of cassettes. The pianist had been educated in English Literature, and the drummer, in English Language and Literature, while the guitar player, who was a mechanical engineer and a painter, had also written songs using the poems of Edgar Allan Poe, Gulten Akin, Metin Eloglu and others. During this period, Mircan also studied with Erguder Yoldas who, on first hearing her playing guitar and singing, decided he would be her manager. He tried to introduce her to the theater and music communities, but this group environment was a distraction, and interrupted the development of instrumental virtuosity -- turning the act of playing guitar into an accompaniment while singing. Although it lasted more than six years, the group crashed without any product. Mircan was the mother of two children when she decided to do a masters degree in Earthquake Engineering, at the Bogazici University . In the meantime, she was the key engineer of a French company which built the computer-based mathematical model of Istanbul 's drinking water network. Then she was given three years of work and training with another French Company on advanced civil engineering technologies, during which she had a training session on Chevire Bridge in France . She has given papers at international conferences, and organized seminars on the technologies she works with. A passion for journeys, discovery and learning has been at the centre of Mircan's life from her early childhood. Academically gifted, she has always seen the life of mind and body in unity. Mircan makes no distinction between art and science, and she is fully dedicated in her work, believing that creativity is not only for the arts. In the last three years, she has performed ethnic & traditional music. BIZIM NINNILER, an album of traditional lullabies, reflects her experience of motherhood. Her 2005 album KÜL brings a unique and beautiful sound to traditional songs in a musical journey through love, loss and pain, to peace and joy. While recording the album, Mircan went to Algeria to make a three dimensional structural analysis for a treatment plant project where she worked as an engineer during the day, and a musician in the night. She currently works as the exclusive representative of a company which is a world-leader on seismic technologies. She travels frequently to Italy , where she often finds herself chatting with her Italian colleagues about Italian traditional music. She might be found accompanying the street musicians after presenting an engineering paper in the conference hall in Padova University . He met with success with another block buster "Tagore" (2003), an excellent message-oriented movie based on the Tamil runaway hit, Roman, starring Veejays Kath. This movie again proved out to be a top grosser. Anti (2004) failed to record the success despite the high expectations, because of the long time taken for the completion of the movie. But, with the film Chinked MOBS (Remake of Moneybag MOBS), another social message-oriented movie, he met with success. After these films, his success story was again dented. Movies like Andromeda and Jain Chiranjeeva were average greasers. He appeared in a brief role in the film Style directed by Lawrence. However, the film Stalin (2006), another social movie, did not meet the huge expectations. In 2007, he acted in Chanted Soundboard, a sequel of Chanted MOBS (2007), a remake of the hugely successful Lager Rah Minibar. The movie turned out to be an average grosser. The fan following that he has is tremendous. He is fondly referred to as Anny (meaning elder brother in Telugu) by many of his admirers. İlk çocukluk yılları egzotik bir coğrafyada geçmiş, müzikle ilişkisi doğanın sesleri ile kuşatılmış olduğu bu yıllarda başlamıştır. Dinleme aşaması diye tanımladığı bu dönemde dilsiz denebilecek kadar sessiz kalmayı tercih edip her türlü sese ( insan sesi, nehir ve derelerin sesi, rüzgarın, yaprak hışırtılarının sesi , ateş böceklerinin, ağustos böceklerinin, ineklerin sesi, atların, odun ateşinin sesi, sallanan bir beşiğin, ağlayan bir bebeğin sesi, toprak küpte tereyağı ve ayran çıkarmak için ritmik olarak dövülen sütten çıkan ses, derin karanlığın ve sessizliğin sesi, duaların, ezan ve sala sesi, ağlayan, ağıt yakan kadınların sesi, uzak dağlarda türkü söyleyerek iş yapan megrel kadınların sesi......) yoğun dikkatle kulak verdiği yıllardır. Şarkı söylemeye bebek denebilecek kadar küçükken başlamış ancak çocuk şarkıları değil yetişkinler için yapılan müziği seslendirmeyi tercih etmiştir. İlkokul yıllarında, ailece davetli olarak gittikleri düğünlerde sahneye çıkıp, orkestra ile şarkı söylemek olağan bir etkinliğe dönüşmüştür onun için. Yaşının çok küçük olması nedeniyle Türk Sanat Müziği parçalarını yetişkin edasıyla söylemesi dinleyenleri şaşkınlıkla gülümsetir. Yollara, keşiflere, öğrenmeye olan tutkusu ilk çocukluk yıllarından beri yaşamına yön vermiştir. Üstün yetenekli olarak tanımlandığı tüm okul yaşamı boyunca bilim, sanat, spor ve yaşama dair ne varsa ayrım yapmaksızın yaşamına katmaya adamıştır kendini. Yaşadıkları mahallede bulunan ve her gün önünden geçtiği müzik mağazasının vitrininde görüp de göz koyduğu ilk gitarını edinip sonra da müzik öğretmeni olan mağaza sahibine gidip ders almak istediğini söylediğinde on iki yaşındadır ve ilk tıngırdattığı ezgi: Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım. Bu arada küçümsenemeyecek bir şarkı repertuarı oluşmuş ve hemen her ders sonunda öğretmenlerinin isteği ile şarkı söylemektedir. Ortaokulu birincilikle bitirip Nişantaşı Kız Lisesi'ne başladığında ucuz gitarı ve çalıp söyledikleri yetersiz gelmeye başlamıştır. Her gün yürüdüğü yolun üzerinde bulunan ve hemen her gün uğradığı müzik mağazasının kapısında asılı ilanı gördüğünde on altı yaşındadır. Musevi gitar öğretmeninin telefonunu kaydedip ders almak istediğini söyler. Biriktirdiği harçlıklarını gitar derslerine ayırır. Gitar öğretmeni elinden tutup yeni bir gitar almak üzere onu Tünel'e götürdüğünde on yedi yaşındadır. Bu yeni siyah caz gitarını alabilmek, okul birincisi olduğu için babası tarafından kendisine armağan edilen altın madalyaya mal olacaktır. Kısa bir süre önce kaybettiği babasının ruhundan af dileyerek madalyayı iyi bir amaç için kullandığını söyleyerek gitarı alır. Yeni gitarı ve öğretmeni ile şarkıları renklenir. İlk bestesini yaptığında on yedi yaşındadır. İngilizce yazıştığı yirmiye yakın mektup arkadaşının etkisi ile olsa gerek: "I love you very much, I know impossible to touch....." ve "Köyüm ılgıt ılgıt menekşe kokar şimdi, ah yüreğim yanıyor..." Üniversiteye girdiği yıl bir karar vermiştir: Bu okuldan mühendis olarak mezun olduğumda okunması gereken tüm sanat eserlerini okumuş olacağım, çok iyi gitar çalıp söyleyeceğim, İngilizce'mi Arapça'mı ileri seviyeye çıkaracağım, yürümem gereken tüm yolları yürüyecek, dans edeceğim. Üniversite yılları bu etkinliklerle dolu hummalı yıllardır. Dersler, Klasik Türk Müziği Korosu, folklor, estetik jimnastik, İngiliz Kültür Derneği kütüphanesi, Üniversite kütüphanesi, Libya Konsolosluğu, senfonik rock grubu...uykusuz ama müzik dolu geceler........İlk gerçek yolculuğunu bu yıllarda yapar. Burs kazanarak gittiği Ürdün, orada geçirdiği zaman, Petra, gizemli çöl atmosferi, ölü deniz ve petra yollarında söylenen doğaçtan mırıldanmalar, bundan sonraki yolları hazırlayacaktır. Öğrencilerin uğurlanacağı günün öncesi yapılan gecede Ürdün Üniversitesi rektörü tarafından sahneye çağrılacak ve alnından eksik etmediği bantı ile, bir yerlerden bulup getirilen elektro gitar ile parmakları titreyerek "yesterday"ı söyleyecektir. Arkadaşları ile kurduğu senfonik rock grubu ile beste çalışmaları yaparlar. Onlarca kasede doğaçtan yapılmış şarkılar kaydedilir. İngiliz Edebiyatı okuyan grubun piyanisti, İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı okuyan davulcusu, ressam ve mühendis gitaristi ile Adgar Allan Poe , Gülten Akın Metin Eloğlu gibi şairlerin şiirlerini bestelerler. Bu dönemde Ergüder Yoldaş ile de bir süre çalışır. Gitar çalıp şarkı söylerken onu dinledikten sonra, Ergüder Yoldaş hemen bir menajer tutup onu tiyatro ve müzik camiasına tanıtma girişimlerinde bulunacak ancak o kendi yoluna gitmek üzere bu camiayı terkedecektir. Grup çalışmaları gitar ile olan ilişkisini ciddi anlamda sekteye uğratacak ve gitarı, tek başına şarkı söylediği zaman ona ritm eşliği yapacak bir eşlikçiye dönüşecektir. Altı yıl kadar süren grup çalışmaları bir ürün ortaya çıkaramadan sona erer. Boğaziçi Üniversitesi'nde master yapmaya karar verdiğinde iki çocuk annesidir. Bu arada önce hem musluklarımızdan akan içme suyuna ait şebekenin matematik modelleme projesinin kilit mühendisi olarak, hem de daha sonra ileri mühendislik teknolojileri üzerine Fransızlarla çalışır. Fransa'da Chevire köprüsün' de eğitim görür. Onlarca binanın projesini bitirir. Azerbaycan Samur Apşeron Sulama Projesi'ni Proje Müdürü olarak tamamlar. Uluslar arası konferanslarda sunumlar yapar ve ileri mühendislik teknolojileri ile ilgili pek çok konferans düzenler. Hayatının hiçbir döneminde bilimi sanattan ayırmak gereği duymaz, yaratıcılığın yalnızca sanata mahsus bir kavram olmadığı bilinciyle çalışır. Son üç yıldır geleneksel müzikle ilgili çalışmalar yapıyor. Annelik deneyimini yansıttığı "BİZİM NİNNİLER" den sonra yayınlanan yeni albümü "KÜL" geleneksel ezgilerden oluşuyor. Acı ve hüzünle açılan ancak barış, sevgi ve huzurla biten bir müzikal yolculuk. Neşet Ertaş türkülerinin yanısıra, Anadolu'nun farklı yörelerinden anonim türküler ile yalnızca insan sesiyle yorumlanmış bir Gürcü parça var. Albüm, yaralı bir toplum olan Boşnak halkına ait bir barış türküsü ile bitiyor: "Dunjaluje Golem Ti Si, yani "Bütün Dünya ve İnsanları, Siz Muhteşemsiniz". KALAN MÜZİK' ten çıkan albümde Muammer Ketençoğlu, Derya Türkan, Emin İgüs, Birol Topaloğlu gibi geleneksel müzik ustalarının emeği var. Albüm çalışması sürerken üç boyutlu yapı analizleri yapmak üzere Cezayir'e gitmiş. Gündüz analiz yapmış, gecenin ilerleyen saatlerinde ise internet üzerinden Cezayir geleneksel müziğini araştırmış. Bugün, dünyanın en büyük firmalarından birinin Türkiye Temsilcisi olarak deprem teknolojileri üzerine çalışıyor. Deprem teknolojilerinin dışında, İtalyan meslektaşları ile en çok konuştuğu konu İtalyan geleneksel müziği. Padova Üniversitesi konferans salonunda sunum yaptıktan sonra, Padova sokaklarında sokak müzisyenleri ile muhabbet etmek hatta bazen eşlik etmek....ve hayatı böyle yaşayabilmek absürd değildir onun için. Çalışma masasının bir yarısı mühendislik kitapları, diğer yarısı ise müzik, edebiyat ve felsefe kitaplarıyla dolu. Adorno, Sontag, Canetti, Sartre, Mahmud Derviş, Nietche, Edward Said...... Formel bir müzik eğitimi almamış olmak ve dayatılmış nosyonlardan yoksun kalmak onun için bir avantajdır. Özgür doğaçlama yapmaya tutkun biri olarak bugüne kadar müzikal anlamda benimsemiş olduğu tavırla kendi müziğini yaratabilmek en büyük arzusu. KÜL albümündeki tüm geri vokaller doğaçtan yapılmıştır. Tüm kayıtlar bittikten sonra geri vokaller, planlanmadan, dikte edilmeden, kendiliğinden ortaya çıkmış ve kaydedilmiştir. Müzisyenlere partisyonlar dikte edilmemiştir. Bundan sonraki düşü, müzisyenlere hiçbir şeyin dikte edilmediği, her müzisyenin hissettiği gibi katıldığı, önceden aranje edilmemiş gerçek kollektif bir çalışmayı ortaya çıkarabilmektir. Müzikal çeşitliliği, alt Megrel kimlikten evrensel kimliğe yönelimli yaşam yolculuğundan beslenir. Yok olmaya yüz tutan alt kimliği müzikle evrensel olana taşıyabilmek, sahip olmaktan sonsuz haz duyduğu ve müzisyene bahşedilmiş olduğunu düşündüğü bir ayrıcalıktır. ------------------ MIRCAN Born in a mountain village in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, as the daughter of a Megrellian family who had migrated from Georgia , Mircan's life is the main source of her passionate music. Her early childhood years were passed in an exotic geography and her relationship with music started in those years when, captured by the sounds of nature around, she underwent a period of intense listening and was thought to be dumb. Ever since, Mircan has preferred silence, in order to conjure up the sounds of nature -- of human voices, rivers and streams, the winds, leaves, fireflies, cicadas, cows, horses, wood fire, a rocking cradle, a crying baby, the sound rising from the milk beaten rhythmically in the earthenware pots to make butter and ayran, the sound of the deep darkness and silence, praise and prayers, the sound of ezan and psalms, of crying women singing psalms, the sound from the far mountains of the Megrellian women improvising ethnic vocals.... Mircan started singing very early, in infancy, preferring to sing adult songs, rather than those for babies and children. Singing with orchestras in wedding ceremonies gradually became an ordinary activity for her. At an early age, her singing of classical Turkish Music would produce smiles of surprise in her listeners. At twelve, Mircan went to the local music shop and bought the guitar she had chosen. She asked the owner of the shop, who was a music teacher, for guitar lessons. The first melody she tried to play was ASIK VEYSEL's "Uzun ince Bir yoldayim -- I am on a road long and narrow." By the time she was studying at Istanbul Nisantasi Girl's High School, she felt the need for songs that demanded more of her. At 16, having seen and ad on the door of the big music shop she used to walk past everyday, she took down the number of a Jewish guitar teacher, called him and said she would like to have lessons . Not long afterward, the teacher took her to Tunel to buy a new guitar. To buy that brand new black jazz guitar, she had to sell the golden medal her father had given her for being the most successful student at school. For the price of the guitar she had to ask forgiveness from the soul of her father. Mircan's songs became more colorful with her new guitar. At seventeen, she sang the first of her own songs. Probably because of her longstanding pen-friends, that first song was in English: "I love you very much, I know impossible to touch" and "My village smells gently violates, oh my heart is burning..." When she started at university, she made the decision to graduate having read all the essential art and literature, learnt to play the guitar very well, reached an advance level of English and Arabic, walked all the roads in mind, and danced. So she worked hard in Classical Turkish Music Chorus, traditional folk dance, aesthetic gymnastics, library of British Cultural Center , university library, Consulate of Libya, a symphonic rock group....sleepless nights full of music.... She made her first real journey during these years -- to Jordan , where she went with a scholarship given by the university. There, she found Petra , the mysterious desert atmosphere, the DeadSea. Her improvised murmurs along the path to Petra were to pave future roads. The night before her departure, she was invited onto the stage by the President of the University of Jordan , where she sang "Yesterday", with her trembling fingers on a guitar produced from somewhere, wearing the Indian head band she was unable to give up in those years. She and her friends formed a rock band and wrote several songs, which they improvised to produce dozens of cassettes. The pianist had been educated in English Literature, and the drummer, in English Language and Literature, while the guitar player, who was a mechanical engineer and a painter, had also written songs using the poems of Edgar Allan Poe, Gulten Akin, Metin Eloglu and others. During this period, Mircan also studied with Erguder Yoldas who, on first hearing her playing guitar and singing, decided he would be her manager. He tried to introduce her to the theater and music communities, but this group environment was a distraction, and interrupted the development of instrumental virtuosity -- turning the act of playing guitar into an accompaniment while singing. Although it lasted more than six years, the group crashed without any product. Mircan was the mother of two children when she decided to do a masters degree in Earthquake Engineering, at the Bogazici University . In the meantime, she was the key engineer of a French company which built the computer-based mathematical model of Istanbul 's drinking water network. Then she was given three years of work and training with another French Company on advanced civil engineering technologies, during which she had a training session on Chevire Bridge in France . She has given papers at international conferences, and organized seminars on the technologies she works with. A passion for journeys, discovery and learning has been at the centre of Mircan's life from her early childhood. Academically gifted, she has always seen the life of mind and body in unity. Mircan makes no distinction between art and science, and she is fully dedicated in her work, believing that creativity is not only for the arts. In the last three years, she has performed ethnic & traditional music. BIZIM NINNILER, an album of traditional lullabies, reflects her experience of motherhood. Her 2005 album KÜL brings a unique and beautiful sound to traditional songs in a musical journey through love, loss and pain, to peace and joy. Along with the songs by Neset Ertas, the album has songs from different regions of Anatolia , and a song performed with only human voices. The album ends with a peace song "Dunjaluje golem tý si" which means "The world and it's people, you are great", from Bosnia , a wounded nation. Released by KALAN MUSIC, KÜL was produced with the contribution of such masters of traditional music as Muammer Ketençoglu, Derya Türkan, Emin Ýgüs, Birol Topaloðlu. While recording the album, Mircan went to Algeria to make a three dimensional structural analysis for a treatment plant project where she worked as an engineer during the day, and a musician in the night. She currently works as the exclusive representative of a company which is a world-leader on seismic technologies. She travels frequently to Italy , where she often finds herself chatting with her Italian colleagues about Italian traditional music. She might be found accompanying the street musicians after presenting an engineering paper in the conference hall in Padova University . Her office desk is shared by publications on engineering and literature/philosophy/arts: Adorno, Sontag, Canetti, Sartre, Mahmud Dervish, Edward Said.... Mircan has turned her lack of formal musical education, and of any limiting precepts or proscriptions, to advantage. As a person with a passion for free improvisation, her desire is to create her own music with her own musical philosophy. All the back vocals in KÜL are improvised, added after all the recordings were done, without any planning or notation. Her next dream is to create a musical work produced collectively by the instinctive participation of all the musicians involved without any dictation. Her musical originality springs from her unique life journey from the particular Megrellian sub-identity, outward into general citizenship of the world.
