Le groupe BB and Q band (Brooklyn, Bronx and Queen Band) s'est formé à New York (More) Le groupe BB and Q band (Brooklyn, Bronx and Queen Band) s'est formé à New York en 1981 à l'initiative de Jacques Fred Petrus, producteur de Change, High Fashion et Zinc. Encouragé par le succès de Change en 1980, Petrus décida de produire un nouveau groupe : BB and Q band est né avec : <br /><br />Paris "Peewee" Ford : bassiste <br />Abdul Wali Mohammad : batterie <br />Kevin Nance : Synthétiseur <br />Dwayne Perdue : clavier <br />Ike Floyd : chanteur <br /><br />Leur premier album eponyme connu un succès fulgurant grâce à deux tubes : le célèbre "On the beat" et "Starlette". Blue and soul magazine décrivait ce premier album comme un début spectaculaire avec de la musique de haute qualité qui nous guide sur la piste de danse. Jacques Fred Petrus et Malavasi se lancèrent alors dans la production d'un second album "All night long" en 1982 et d'un troisième "Six million times" en 1983 avant de dissoudre leur association à cause de graves problèmes financiers. Malavasi retourna en Italie où il connu un succès en tant que musicien et Petrus resta en retrait mais continua à y croire en produisant un quatrième album, "Genie" en 1985 qui connut un petit succès en Europe. <br /><br />Jacques Fred Petrus a probablement sauver son entreprise grâce aux emprunts de la mafia mais il était incapable de rembourser. Le titre "Riccochet" extrait de "Genie" fut le dernier titre de BB & Q band sorti en 1987, peu avant l'assassinat de Jacques Fred Petrus. Les circonstances de sa mort fut inexpliquées mais un rapport mentionnait qu'il avait été retrouvé avec un bloc de béton autour de son cou dans un lac près de Mexico. On suppose que c'est à cause de ses nombreux emprunts faits à la mafia qui ont causés sa mort. <br /><br />Une de mes premières découvertes funk... <br /> (Less)

Band (which stands for the Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens Band) came together accidentally on purpose when guitarist Doc Powell turned bassist The original lineup consisted of Ford (bass), Mauro Malavasi (piano and synthesizers), Paolo Gianolio (guitar), Terry Silverlight (drums), Kevin Nance (keyboards), and Ike Floyd (lead singer). The deal was with Capitol Records and the band was up and running. They debuted with The Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens Band, produced by Petrus and Malavasi, which spawned the hypnotic, wallflower remover "On the Beat," a number three club hit the fall of 1981. Critically acclaimed by disco freaks -- Luther Vandross sang background -- their first slab of vinyl never exploded in the States. source allmusicguide (Less)
