Arroyo HS 2007 Field Show- Chronicles of Earth Arroyo High School's 2007 Field Show is entitled "Chronicles of Earth"
The Opener (More) Arroyo High School's 2007 Field Show is entitled "Chronicles of Earth"
The Opener represents the beginnings of our planet Earth as simply molecules in space (as displayed in the opening set of the show) crashing into one another until they form the planet. It then goes on to musically describe the tumultuous existence of the planet and its gradual corruption and deterioration by us humans beings until it is ultimately sent to its death. It is comprised of several spontaneous and chaotic excerpts from "Pictures at an Exhibition: The Hut on Fowl's Leg" by Mussorgsky, "Firebird Suite" by Stravinsky, and "Chairman Dances" by John Adams all tied together with the overall underlying theme from "Reflections of Earth" by Gavin Greenway.
The Ballad represents a requiem for the dead planet, now barren and almost lifeless thanks to the ignorance of mankind. The piece used to illustrate the theme is "Lincolnshire Posy: Harkstow Grange" by Percy Grainger.
Finally, the Closer represents the idea that even through adversity, we the people should still have hope and can repair the damage that mankind has caused. In a sense, our final statement is the rebirth of the planet Earth and that with the power of teamwork and perseverance from all the peoples of the world, everyone and their future posterity will be able to appreciate the very world that all of us truly call home. The music we use to demonstrate the final part of the story are excerpts from "Reflections of Earth" again by Gavin Greenway, "Jupiter from The Planets" by Gustav Holst, "Uranus from The Planets" by Gustav Holst, "Chorale and Shaker Dance" by John Zdechlik, and finally the finale from the "Firebird Suite" by Igor Stravinsky to leave an impression to all who listen to our message.
