Princess Diana's Funeral Part 29: Richard Attenborough The news bulletin concludes with news of repairs to the Mir space station and the deaths of Mother (More) The news bulletin concludes with news of repairs to the Mir space station and the deaths of Mother Theresa and the world renowned conductor Sir Georg Solti who both died on 5th September 1997. On a recent trip to Chicago, I noticed a street was named after him presumably because his last job was with the Chicago Symphony. There then follws an interview with Diana's friend, the actor and film director Richard Attenborough who starred in movies such as the Great Escape, Brighton Rock and Jurassic Park and directed A Bridge Too Far, Gandhi and Shadowlands. He experienced a worse personal tragedy in 2004 when his daughter and Grand-daughter were killed in the Asian Tsunami on Boxing Day that year. The interview breaks to track the progress of the Hearse up the M1 and then continues with Vox Pops, this time outside Buckingham Palace with veteran BBC war correspondent Kate Adie. I think her style was a little too stuffy and formal for the occasion. The other reporters seemed much more relaxed when interviewing the public. (Less)
