Chapter Five: So Much For True Colors Amethyst, although fairly thin, jumped on me heavily, (More) Chapter Five: So Much For True Colors Amethyst, although fairly thin, jumped on me heavily, making me release an 'ughhh' as she landed, messying my comforter. "How'd it go?!" I giggled at Nick's and my conversation a few minutes earlier, then snapped back to reality: "Oh, it was cool. I mean, okay. As cool as a window conversation can get." I played it off just well enough to last until the i-know-you're-lying roll of the eyes from Amethyst. "Okay, okay. It was absotively posolutely amazing, Am." She smiled, satisfied with my reply. "Ahhh! I'd totally be the maid of honor at your wedding!" Laughing a little, I answered: "Dont you think you're getting a little ahead of yourself? I mean, he's a rockstar. A HOT one at that. Why would he want the-girl-next-door? Its so cliche." I stated as I untangled myself from the thick covers. Frustrated, I lightly shouted: "Why do I even still have these?! It's a billion degrees outside!" Laughing at me, Arianna agreed: "Yeahhh. Mommy said that she would throw them out." "Well then I wish she would already!" We laughed, and Arianna headed over to my computer to log onto none other than MileyWorld.com. I rolled my eyes. Shooting a sarcastic look at Amethyst, I followed with: "Am, you know my mom PAYS for that?!" She just giggled, shook her head and flipped on my television to MTV. I looked from the TV to Amethyst and retorted: "You know, the day you die, I bet your TV will be on MTV" She had watched it that much. Quickly looking away from the TV, at me, she waved her hand in the air and replied "No honey. The day I die, it'll be BECAUSE my TV wasnt on MTV." Turning the volume up, she laughed, but sadly, I knew that she believed it. I sat up in my bed, against the wall with the window and allowed myself to escape outside, maybe hoping that I'd see Nick sitting on his bed, strumming his guitar. But having no such luck, my eyes drifted downward, toward the sidewalk where people that had more of a life than I commuted. My ears picked up a squeaky voice, louder than it needed to be, just as my eyes saw two people who appeared to be arguing a few feet from my house. Looking closer and realizing that it was Joseph, only with straight hair, I jumped up and ran outside to where the two were standing. My sister and Amethyst rushed to the window in an attempt to figure out what was going on. Thinking extremely quickly, I threw my arms around Joseph's waist and smiled innocently. "What's the problem, babe?" Unsure, Joe wrinkled his brow a little and said "Nothing?" His eyes lit up, and he obviously figured out my plan. "HONEY! Nothing, HO-O-ONEY" He dragged out the last word, as if to emphasize it. "HA! Honey?! So we're dating down now? And little sluts at that!" The girl sneered, noticing my youth... and my shorts, which weren't exactly modest, but no where near slutty. I backed up a little, intimidated, but not showing it much. "Okay, so I could reduce myself to your level, but I'd much rather refrain from embarrassing myself as much as I'm about to embarrass you." Now, stepping closer to her, I continued: "Now, don't you feel awfully stupid coming to Mr. Jonas' house-- Mr. Kevin Jonas Sr. that is-- and causing all of this trouble? Whatever the drama may be, i suggest that you keep it over the phone, because when you bring it over here, you're now dealing with ME. And sure, honey, I may be younger than you, but I am far more educated. And I suggest, unless you want to be further publicly humiliated, that you turn your little wanna-be-nineteen-ninety-nine-britney-spears-behind around and go back home where people have learned to deal with your rudeness, because I'm so over it." I grabbed Joseph's hand and pulled him toward his house. I hadn't quite known what had just happened, but I did know that I stood up for a friend when they needed it. "Whoa Jess! That was amazing!" He hugged me once we were inside, and I just giggled, brushing it off as nothing. As Joseph and I broke the hug, Nick came down the stairs, with a bottled water in his hands. "Hey, whatsup?" I went to give him a hug, but he continued walking. I figured he didn't notice, so I followed him into the kitchen and rested my hand on the counter. "HI!" I said, sarcastically waving the other hand in the air. "Yeah whatever." He grabbed a pack of strawberries and a can of whipped cream from the refrigerator, and a small tupperware bowl from the cupboard. "Excuse me."
