Ocarina of Time - Evil Link / Emo Link (Apparently)
Pause at 00:06 for a good view. I've been playing with textures from The Legend of Zelda: (More) Pause at 00:06 for a good view. I've been playing with textures from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and the outcome (for now) is this. Evil Link, a totally different character from Dark Link, and more intimidating than Link himself. To do this, I used Rice's video plugin for the Project64 N64 emulator. Using that plugin, you can dump the textures into image files from any game you're playing with the emulator. From there, you find the textures you want to change (not as easy as it sounds) in the Plugin/texture_dump folder, and move them to the Plugin/hires_texture folder, inside which you must have a folder named exactly the same as the one you took the textures from. Create the folder(s) yourself (the ones inside the texture_dump folder will create themselves). Use a photoshop type program to change your textures. Save, and run the emulator again, enabling the 'load hi-res textures if available' option. Note that this was done by me quite a while back. If there are new methods, I'm clueless. I've only made Young Link yet, but eventually I'll probably do the same for Adult Link (been a long time, don't hold your breath), unfortunately I couldn't find the texture for his belt, or that'd be black too. =P Short video, I know, but the emulator plugin had a few issues, so not much of the game looked right.
