A Complete History of Heavy Metal roots and sounds part 1
I had watched several documentaries on Heavy Metal on VH1 and MTV and found that there was some info (More) I had watched several documentaries on Heavy Metal on VH1 and MTV and found that there was some info missing about it's history and roots so I put together a 2 part video of what I have found to be the TRUE history of Heavy Metal. I have loved a heavy sound since I was a kid and have been into Heavy Metal for 25 years. I Worked in a record store at the age of 15 and listened to as many records possible to finds as many Heavy songs as possible. Here is an explaination of what I found. I will be putting a list together of albums where you can find the "Heavy" element.Here's a start: Frank Zappa:Freak Out! (who are the brain police) Cream:any album very riffy Jimi Hendrix Experience: Any album Pink Floyd: Pipers (Astronomy Domine,Intersteller Overdrive, and Lucifer sam which the riff would be used over 20 years later for Alice In Chains song Angry Chair)Saucerful of secrets (Let there be more light), More (the nile song, ibiza bar) Ummagumma (the narrow way part2,Careful with that axe eugene), Meddle (one of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces) Deep Purple: Shades of(Mandrake root, Hey Joe) Any album with Ian Gillan from the early 70s Jethro Tull: This was(Dharma for one) Stand up(For a thousand mothers), Benefit (To Cry you a song), Aqualung (Aqualung, My God) King Crimson: In court of the crimson King (21st Century Schizoid man), In the wake of the possiden(Pictures of a City) Red(a great heavy album that was ahead of it's time!) Any album is good, they were a big influence on bands like Primus, Korn & Slipknot. At their heaviest they can compete with Black Sabbath! Led Zeppelin: I(Dazed & Confuzed, communication Breakdown) III (Immigrant Song) Presence (Achiles last stand) Fleetwood Mac: Albums from the Peter Green era have their heavy element, they were an influence on Judas Priest(Green Manaleshi) Black Sabbath: Every album!!!!!!
