Time for a definite David Lee Roth video! The man stirs up quite a lot of emotions and diverse (More) Time for a definite David Lee Roth video! The man stirs up quite a lot of emotions and diverse opinions. In this video I´ll stick to the facts and present a true 4 octave wonder. I´ll admit I´ve had doubts myself for this guy. Most of the clips are from the great DLR band CD, a really cool CD! And as for the age old question, who has the best range, David or Sammy? The answer is David but Sammy is way stronger and more comfortable and a little higher in the high register. 1.The last verse in the great Van Halen reunion song Me wise magic. He hits several non-fry C#2:s. The last phrase (FOR YOUR INNER EAR) is G#1/A1 and sounds more fryish but then again it sounds very much the same as the previous passage. 2.Non-fry B1 on the first and fourth phrase, from Let it all hang out. 3.Several G1:s from song Tight. 4.Strong G1/G#1:s from the intro to the Just a Gigolo video. David has a very low register! 5.And he has learned to sing around C5 as the Me wise magic track shows. First the bridge and then 6.the chorus which has sustained C5:s (and C#5 on the YEAH:s). 7.The chorus to relentless, several sustained C#5:s and one short E5. 8.A passage from Counterblast. First around Bb1, then around D5 with a short F5. 9.A passage from the 2nd Van Halen reunion song, Can´t get this stuff no more. Roth sings up to Eb5 and E5 and then does a long Bb1 which is clearly vocal fry. 10.A short glissando up to E5 from Blacklight. Around G1 afterwards but it sounds very processed. 11.A slightly sustained E5 from Little Texas. 12.Short F#5 and G5 from Blacklight. There are a few short F5/F#5:s here and there on the DLR Band CD but they are hardly countable so I leave them out. 13.Time for some old time falsetto David (he learned the head voice high notes in the 90´s)! E5 from Shy Boy. 14.And the classic screams from Running with the devil. Very airy and falsettish. First an A5 and then G5/G#5. 15.Lastly his highest note ever, a falsetto Eb6 from Little Texas.
