The Potbelleez "Don't Hold Back" The Potbelleez "Don't Hold Back" http://www.freneticmusic.com (More) The Potbelleez "Don't Hold Back" http://www.freneticmusic.com http://www.myspace.com/freneticmusic1 http://www.myspace.com/thepotbelleez Released Sunday 27 April digital, Monday 5 May in shops Welcome The Potbelleez. It's a name you'll be unable to avoid very soon. Don't Hold Back, the band's debut single is a track with radio written all over it. Tong's already playing, and daytime radio beckons. Today, The Potbelleez are one of Australia's most in-demand acts. "Don't Hold Back" was number 5 there and in the top 40 for 23 weeks. In 2007 alone, they played over 250 gigs, including Channel Ten's famous Sydney Harbour New Years Eve celebrations, (2.2 million viewers Australia wide). They also played in front of 35,000 people at the opening of the A League Soccer Grand Final at Sydney Football Stadium, together with a host of festival appearances including Global Gathering Ireland (alongside Sasha & Digweed), Godskitchen (UK), and closing Stereosonic after Armand Van Helden . Already this year they've played Good Vibrations alongside Kanye West and supported dance luminaries Frankie Knuckles, Groove Armada and Axwell. Upcoming gigs at the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney legs of the Future Music Festival alongside The Chemical Brothers and Roger Sanchez will also ensure the band will end the massive Australian summer festival season with a bang. ...Now they are coming to the UK. The Potbelleez are a musical tour de force, consisting of DJ-producers and founding members Dave Goode and Jonny Sonic, sassy singer Blue and Ilan 'Ikid' Kidron, the voice behind 'Don't Hold Back'. Dave and Jonny, who are both Irish lads, landed in Sydney Australia in 2002, looking for a new start in the Antipodes. The electric Blue joined the pair in 2005, having previously dropped rhymes for legendary UK act Hexstatic while living in London. Meanwhile, Kidron made his entrance in 2006 as the band took about a legendary 2 year Saturday night residency in former strip club Moulin Rouge right in the heart of Sydney's red light district Kings Cross. Combining Dave & Jonny's punchy electro-laced beats, with guitar-licked summer sonics and Kidron's captivating vocals, "Don't Hold Back" is 7 minutes of stunning dance music perfection and the kind of special offering that demanded people sit up and take notice of this rising Australian talent. The track spent an incredible 17 weeks as no.1 in the ARIA dance charts and 22 weeks in the ARIA Top 40 national singles chart, peaking at #5, which took the single "platinum" selling over 70,000 units. Now squarely on the dance world's radar Dave & Jonny have been signed up by legendary Ibiza super club Pacha to mix a new compilation, while Ministry of Sound has snapped up the dynamic duo to record a prestigious 'Sessions' mix later this year. 12: A1: Original Mix A2: Malente's Monster Dub B1: Out Of Office Remix B2: Totally Random Remix ECD: 1. lyrics from where he starts off in the video:
Another manic Monday night, its gonna be a long walk
A car pulled up, a fixed up cutlass
A woman and a child climbed out and left it running
They went inside of the deli, placed an order
With the extra dollar fifty bottled water cuz the daughters picky
When they came out mommy gave me a glance
That said man can love an angel but he's got to take the chance
Already knew the deal, I lit one up and walk
So they got back in the oldsmobile, belted up, and took off
Thug love on the corner by the walgreens
Lookin at me like I'm just another square saltine
As I get closer I notice that they showin each other sketches
Out of their notebooks, reminded me of my old roots
I walk pass with a nod and a reminisce
Swear to god hip hop and comic books was my genesis
Respect the life and the fashions of the children
It's the only culture I've got, exactly what we've been buildin
All of a sudden I'm in front of some man
No he's a youngin but he's got a gun in his hand
He looks fifteen, he looks frantic, no he looks afraid
Immediately apprehensive til I heard him say
"Do you want this It's not mine I promise
I found it on my block in between a couple garages
Didn't wanna leave it for a child to stumble over
I don't even know how to hold it."
It was a thirty eight, the poor mans machete
Held it in my hand, thinking damn man it's heavier then expected,
Wedged it behind my belt buckle
Knowin that its evil, even thought that I could smell trouble
The extra strength felt weak,
But over there on the corner saw what I needed and proceeded to cross the
Street
Put the heat in the mail box to loose it
Figured that the post office knows whats best to do with it
Mosey down the road thinkin' bout the old
I use to roam this zone with two feet of snow
Right here, this use to be a record shop
I've gotten love, I've gotten drunk, I've gotten beat up in that parking lot
I've had my lake street pride for three decades
These alleyways, and these streetlights have seen my best days
Before I was a germ learnin how to misbehave,
All the way to the grave, south side is my resting place
Took a right on Lyndale I'm getting near
But then the road became empty and the people disappear'd
The clowds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standin in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, starin at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone
No matter where I am, no matter what I do
I'm always coming back home to you
They can leave me for dead they can take away my true
I'm always coming back home to you
Through the lies and the sins that ride the wind that blew
I'm always coming back home to you
As sure as the life in the garden that you grew
I'm always coming back home to you
No matter where I am, no matter what I do
I'm always coming back home to you
If only I had known what you already knew
I'm always coming back home to you
From the heaven I've had to the hell I been through
I'm always coming back home to you
I'm always coming back home to you (Less)
