Under new procedures, when foreign nationals apply for entry Japan, fingerprints and a facial photograph will be taken. If foreign nationals refuse to provide fingerprints and a facial photograph, theperson will not be permitted to enter Japan, and will be ordered to leave Japan. By way of exception, Korean residents in Japan(they have got permission of permanent residence) were removed from this time's fingerprinting system. Japanese immigration takes foreigners' fingerprints...this system does not constitute an invasion of privacy(breach of privacy). Because person's fingerprint is not privacy. I know some persons think fingerprint is privacy. But this is big mistake. People who think fingerprint is privacy must think about "what is privacy?" at first. What is privacy? "Privacy" is the information that a person does not want others to know. Therefore, "privacy"means a whole lot of different things to people, "privacy" depends on the person. For example, there is a person who does not want others to know his own education background or career. However, if this person want to enter a company, he must make a declaration about his own education background or career to a company. If the person who does not want a company to know "his own education background or career", he has not choice but to give up applying to a company. If the person who does not want Japanese immigration to know "his own fingerprints", he has not choice but to give up entering Japan. Why is there a person who does not want Japanese immigration to know "his own fingerprints? Such a person has possibilities to involve in some crimes? Most Japanese have no idea why some people don't want Japanese immigration to know their own fingerprints. Because we Japanese know well that...a person who does not want others to know his/her own fingerprints is limited either a person who involves in some crimes or a person who don't know common sense that we Japanese share. To people who are against "having one's fingerprint taken"....please think about "what is privacy?" at first. Please check on each your own individual information that you think as your own privacy...your gender, your career, your education, your birth date or age, your race, your nationality, your portraits, your eye's color, your passport number, your credit card number, your pay statement??? The information that you don't want others to know...it is your privacy. The information that you want to protect so as not to be known...it is your privacy. If you don't want Japanese immigration to know your nationality, birth date, age, eye's color, you have another option. You can refuse to enter Japan at airports. You have the right not to enter Japan. (Less)
