HIV / AIDS - Rescue the Perishing In the face of a disease that is not curable by any human means, Jesus would care for the sick and (More) In the face of a disease that is not curable by any human means, Jesus would care for the sick and expect his followers to do the same.
I invite you to join me in becoming seriously disturbed about something that disturbs the heart of our Father. He is searching for men and women of every age, color, background, and financial status to become seriously disturbed about the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Will you follow Jesus' example with me and take on others' pain by fighting against HIV/AIDS and caring for those most affected by it? - Kay Warren

In November, I attended the 2007 Global Summit on AIDS and the Church at Saddleback Church in Californa. It was there I experienced exponential freedom from a very personal burden I had carried for years. That was just the beginning of a journey into a broken heart for those suffering with HIV / AIDS, the 143 million orphans of the world, the sick, the dying, the lost, and those who haven't tasted the freedom that is Jesus' sacrifice.
For too long, the American church has been a sleeping giant in this global pandemic of HIV / AIDS. We have looked the other way. Instead, we've argued over what songs to sing in church or what color the carpet should be or whether we should support Disney. All the while, people are dying from disease, poverty, genocide, famine, war, sexual slavery, and a host of other social injustices most of us in the American church can't even begin to fathom.
For me, the line is drawn in the sand. This far. No further. The Church can't sleep and turn it's back on the HIV / AIDS pandemic or any of these social injustices any longer. The Church is the largest global network.
"Relief agencies and governments are hard at work attacking this global giant, but it wasn't to any government or relief agency that Jesus said, "I will build you....and the gates of Hell cannot prevail against you." Jesus spoke those words to his Church! The Church is the most effective distribution channel of help, assistance, care, support, and compassion, and it has the moral authority to call for lifestyle changes." - Kay Warren
I can no longer live a comfortable "American life". I've been seriously disturbed and have tunnel vision like never before.
Please pray with me, specifically for those suffering with HIV / AIDS, the lost, the dying, the sick, the poor, the orphans. Jesus walked alongside those who were cast out from society. Those who were sick and dying. Those who were lost. As a Christ-follower, the Church is called to nothing less. It's not optional. We must walk shoulder to shoulder, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, giving care and healing to the sick, and to those in prison.
Our world is waiting.
