Neurotic Genius Copywriter Gary Halbert Inspired Joe Polish Gary Halbert said, "All societies advance on the backs of their neurotics." Gary would (More) Gary Halbert said, "All societies advance on the backs of their neurotics." Gary would know since he constantly vacillated from genius to insanity. There was no stability in Gary's later life...only the extremes of experience that fueled his incredibly effective copywriting. As many of his friends say, "Gary's copy was anything but boring. You either loved or hated him or both depending on his mood." I had the unique opportunity to video and photo Gary's funeral memorial service and party. You will see from the testimonials and memorial service that Gary Halbert was one of the most unique humans God ever created. Gary's family has permitted me to make available these videos so others will be better able to experience his greatness, genius and also his uniqueness.
WARNING: Some of these testimonials are as extreme as Gary's life so listen with caution to the eulogies of those who loved and worked with him. If you enjoy what you see and hear, please comment, subscribe to my chanel and add my videos to your favorites. I guarantee I will be providing information and amazing perspectives of reality in the near future that will blow your mind.
Below is a letter I wrote to Gary while he was still alive and suffering from severe depression.
Dear Gary, I heard through the grapevine you could use some cheering up so here is my best effort. You are a great man, although very controversial. You are a pioneer in spreading the knowledge of the power of copywriting! You are anything but boring or mundane, a real person...not a phony-baloney, money-hungry rip-off artist.
Your work for the hurricane victims and other charitable causes is exceptional. You are a hero in my book. I created a heroes page honoring your vast contributions to humanity.
You are an inspiration to people who do not fit the common mold or follow the beaten path. You are unique and should be proud of your accomplishments. Your being yourself is a breath of fresh air. It is encouraging to many of us who are not ashamed of who we are and what we believe. The world is so sick of phonies who lie and deceive others in the name of money, power and material possessions. The world is desperate for those with integrity.
Rejoice in your uniqueness and all the great things you have accomplished and the great successes and recognition right around the corner.
I know what it feels like to be depressed and battle health problems...they have plagued me for my entire life. Little did I realize my hormone levels were screwed up from birth. My radical lifestyle just compounded the problems of depression and suicidal tendencies.
With your radical lifestyle, adrenal failure may be a huge factor in how you are feeling each day. I found the major answers to my tortured soul in the alternative medicine field. Both my wife and I were suffering form adrenal failure. 80% of Americans are in the same boat.
Dr. Michael Borkin, a pioneer in hormone research, fixed me and my wife...to our great joy and vast relief...we were not crazy after all. He is the leading hormone doctor for the big movie stars. He has personally saved their sanity and restored a level of health, vitality and sexual performance they only dreamed of.
Sincerely yours,
Ralph Zuranski
PS A simple test to discover if your adrenals are exhausted requires only a
small flashlight, a mirror and dark room. Adrenal hormones are responsible
for our pupils contracting when exposed to bright lights. Just shine a penlight into your eyes. Watch your pupils contract. If they do not fully contract down and stay tight pinpoints, your adrenals be shot to
hell and back.
PPS I know this works because I was there. My pupils expanded and contracted so frequently, it freaked me out. When I took the saliva hormone test, the results proved I was suffering from adrenal exhaustion stage 2 close to the catastrophic stage 3. It took a year to get better, but what a blessing now to have balanced emotions. (Less)
Frankie Gaye And Mary Wells - Once Upon A Time PLEASE READ THIS. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT. Up to today, I have put three hundred and eleven videos (More) PLEASE READ THIS. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT. Up to today, I have put three hundred and eleven videos up here on YouTube, and they have been viewed nearly two million times, according to my account information on my home page. Two million hits is, I feel, a pretty amazing achievement for the music that I love. Well basically, if my hundreds of long long hours putting up free videos for you to watch, have brought you any form of enjoyment or satisfaction at all, then PLEASE PLEASE, I ask you, no I BEG you to do just one thing in return. PLEASE support the "Yesterday And Tomorrow" album, and show me that you care about this music. I have put my heart and soul, and thirty three years of my career into this album, and we're flying blind, doing it ourselves and without a distributor. Unless people take the trouble to go to our website, which at the moment has a direct link to the album on E-Bay, or unless people go onto amazon.co.uk and search for the album, they are simply not going to find it in their local shop. I put a huge amount of loving care into these videos on YouTube, and nearly two million hits prove it's not in vain. Surely you can spend just fifteen pounds of your money and buy it, just to show me I am not wasting my time. PLEASE do this for me, PLEASE. It's painful and heartwrenching to see it sell so little, mainly because it's not easily available. So PLEASE show me your support, and I shall continue to do my bit to bring you this music. I ask you not to ignore this plea - I need to see a sign that people care. I would hate to be so disheartened that I remove all my 311 videos from here. So just this once, all I ask of you is to do your bit, and please buy this one CD.
This was the one time I teamed up Mary Wells with Marvin Gaye's brother Frankie, to recreate Marvin and Mary's hit, "Once Upon A Time", and watching this now, it's so hard to believe they both passed away. When we all first went to Los Angeles, in April 1989, to have a second public reunion there of all the California based former Motown artists, immediately following the one we'd just done in Detroit, Frankie came along, and we were all shocked and numbed by how much he looked like his late brother Marvin. So I had the brilliant idea of teaming him up with Mary Wells for them to re-do "Once Upon A Time". Frankie was Marvin's younger brother , and had been the inspiration for "What's Going On", and indeed Frankie sang on that, alongside Marvin, and if you listen closely you can hear both voices on there. Frankie and his wife Irene were actually in the house when Frankie's father shot Marvin dead, in 1984. Anyway, Frankie seemed such an obvious and necessary addition to Motorcity. In 1990, Frankie got to perform to a huge crowd on the rooftop of the enormous Pontchartrain Hotel in Detroit, on a hot humid summer Saturday night, after it had poured down all day. I was sitting next to Berry Gordy's sister, Esther Edwards, and she gasped in shock when Frankie appeared, and said it was like seeing a ghost. Sadly Frankie, just like his brother Marvin, has now passed on to that soul concert in the sky, but I shall always be so proud of working with him. And of course I recorded Mary Wells's last album before she died. Mary was a true diva, a lovely person and a dear friend. Wherever she went, her four year old daughter, Sugar, was with her. She was left without a mother at such a young age. I guess she'd be about twenty three or four now. Mary was with us in Detroit for a TV show in 1989, and she came out with the greatest line in history, which is somehow captured on a grotty dark bit of video for posterity. "When you deal with the Motown artists you're dealing with true genius. And like all true geniuses, we're all mentally disturbed". Liz Lands was there, and wholeheartedly agfreed with her. I treasure that quote. At the end of this video, I have included an amazing out-take where Mary forgets who Frankie was and calls him Marvin, because she said they could have been twins, both in appearance and vocally, and she should have known, if anyone did.
