The Original Rare Gloomy Sunday Lyrics by Reszo Seress The Gloomy Sunday we know today is based on the lyrics of Hungarian poet László (More) The Gloomy Sunday we know today is based on the lyrics of Hungarian poet László Jávor. The original Hungarian Composer and pianist, Rezso Seress, had his own lyrics that were replaced early on. The version most people are familiar with today is not based on the composers original lyrics! It'll be nice to one day get someone to sing his original lyrics over his haunting melody!
Now, you will hear them, first in English and then in Hungarian by Istvan Urban (Hungary)
LITERAL ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
World Has Come To Its End
't is autumn with withered
leaves whirling.
On earth, love among
people has died.
With tears of sorrow the
autumn wind's sobbing,
for a new spring my heart
is too hopeless to wait.
Invain all my tears, all
my sufferings invain,
heartless the people, wicked
and all full of greed...
Love has died!
The world and all hope
has come to its end,
Cities wiped out in
resounding shrapnel.
Bright meadows with human
blood coloured red.
Dead people scattered
on the streets everywhere.
So once more quietly
I will say my prayer:
"My Lord, people are
erring and prone to sin...
World has come to its end!
(Transl. by A.W.
Meghalt a szeretet!
Vége a világnak, vége a reménynek
Városok pusztulnak, srapnelek zenélnek
Emberek vérét--l piros a tarka rét
Halottak fekszenek az úton szerteszét
Még egyszer elmondom csendben az imámat:
Uram, az emberek gyarlók és hibáznak...
Vége a világnak!

Rezso Seress - Gloomy Sunday DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC if you are depressed or if you think or already thought in suicide, It (More) DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC if you are depressed or if you think or already thought in suicide, It may put you very worse, please, I beg you. Gloomy Sunday, or "The Hungarian Suicide Song" or even "Suicide's Anthem" as some call this music, it's a very sad music, that Rezso Seress composed, when he was in a bad situation. Some people call it the names i said up there, because this music was linked to many suicides. People say the melody is haunted and if you listen to it, you ear a voice that tells you to kill yourself. But that is just a bad joke of someone's sick mind. This music is a very, very sad music, it is normal that a person with suicide and/or depressive tendences would want to die. Me too think this music is sad, but somehow, I like it, I love to ear it, Seress really passed the feelings he was when he wrote the sheet to the melody, to me, this music is like a poem. I hope you like it! (Less)
