GQ - Disco nights (Live)
Emmanuel LeBlanc est le fondateur de ce groupe. Il a grandit dans le Bronx et la musique (More) Emmanuel LeBlanc est le fondateur de ce groupe. Il a grandit dans le Bronx et la musique était un moyen d'échapper à la pauvreté et à l'ennui. A treize ans il fait son premier enregistrement avec le groupe Sons of Darkeness. Ensuite il rejoint les Survivors de "Sabu" Crier en 1968 et ils forment ensemble le groupe des Rythm Makers. Pendant dix ans ils se contentent d'un répertoire de reprises personnalisées. Il obtiennent enfin une reconnaissance avec Zone en 1976. Trois ans plus tard, sur les conseils de leur manager Tony Lopez, ils deviennent GQ en référence au magazine Gentlemen's Quarterly. Le groupe signe alors avec Larkin Arold chez Arista. Le groupe travail d'abord sur "Disco Nights", composé quelques années auparavant sous le titre "Soul on Your Side". Celui-ci se place en première position des classements noirs en avril 1979 et frôle le Top 10 Pop. Ensuite l'album "Disco Nights" devient un best-seller grace entre autre à des titres comme "I do love you" (N°5 Soul et N°20 Pop) ou encore "Make my dreams come a reality" (N°8 Soul). En 1980, Paul Service quitte le groupe. Le groupe continue alors en trio et sort un deuxième album intitulé "Two". Deux titres connaissent le succès : "Standing ovation" et "Sitting in the park" (reprise comme "I do love you" de Billy Stewart). Malheureusement le succès disparaît petit à petit après deux derniers titres "Shake" en 1981 et "Sad girl" en 1982. Le carrière du groupe s'arrète là. Pour rester dans le monde musical, Leblanc et Herb ouvrent ensuite un studio dans le Bronx où Keith Sweat a débuté.
