Sideshow Premium Format Darth Maul Star Wars Review. "" 4.5 out of 5 "" _____________________________ Introduction (More) "" 4.5 out of 5 "" _____________________________ Introduction _____________________________ This premium format from what I have seen only from pictures would be my second choice of them all. The darth vader appears to have more detail and has the " star wars precense " alot more. If you wish to have just the one , I would recommend the darth vader. The Basics ____________________________ The statue is a beautiful piece for any movie collector or hard core star wars fan. On display it is instantly recognizable as a star wars piece. This shines more of the 2nd trilogy ( first stories ) over the first. The darth vader would be a great piece for the first. Sideshow made him around 17 inches tall , including the lightsaber which goes up behind his back it is around 19 inches. It's one hell of a display piece. The Body ____________________________ The head and whole body is made from very hard polystone and the paint job as usual doesn't fail to impress. Over the body is what I think it thick cotton ( or thin wool lol ) which are used as his clothing. The boots and gloved hands are made from again the same type of polystone. This figure didn't receive higher points because of the paint here. It could of been darker on the gloves and boots to match the clothing and not make the substance change so obvious. The whole body under the clothing which is not viewable is painted black. The heads paint job is in my opinion one of the best Darth Maul's ever done. His teeth are brown and yellow , the eyes are perfect and there isn't a single mistake with the patterns on his head down to the very last detail. Very , very well done. The base if I remember correctly is heavier than the figure itself and is where the batteries are included ( and can be changed ) to make his lightsaber light the infamous menacing red glow. His arm comes off and on with a plug type fitting so wire must lead all the way through from there down to the base in order to get the lighting to work. The base's paintjob and design is again amazing work. The silver and black flooring is from the scene with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn desperately dueling with obviously Darth Maul. Overall the body design and base of this figure is well done. People can have some problems with the premium format star wars figures , that being the lightsabers not lighting. As I did in the video ,this can be the batteries going , the arms being loose , the button broken. Numerous reasons really , although this can be a problem this is another amazing piece from sideshow collectibles. ___________________________ Overview ___________________________ Overall the pf ( premium format ) is amazing. Darth Maul was a great addition to the Star Wars genre so i had to get this guy , darth vader is next. The villains of Star Wars have always been great to look at and so iconic. If you want a star wars piece I will be honest and say go with darth vader , see my freinds or subscribers list for knightslades review of him , which is also very well done ( hope you don't mind man lol ). That lucky *%"! also has the 1:1 darth maul bust so check his videos lo. This figure is great and definitely recommended for any movie fans and star wars fans. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave a post. Thanks guys , Tay. (Less)
