StepMania -- Accelerating Bonus/Special Stage... filename: video-2010-09-20-11-30-54.3gp
Yep, (More) filename: video-2010-09-20-11-30-54.3gp
Yep, classical tune. It reminds me of SO MANY good souvenirs of everywhere I've been playing this game, elsewhere than at my house because me I had the Super Nintendo and not the Genesis, and of everyone who were always toying around and having fun. Me I was riveted and trying so hard to beat this game. I think I don't think I could ever finish those chaos emerald stage though, at 4 years old. I was just too young and it wasn't a game for child so young. Yet a enjoyed it quite a lot and to this day Sonic 2 and 3 are still my favorite games, and I still think it, that they are nicely constructed and have the one of the best music... blablabla.
I made this chart and since I can't even understand what I said in the video I will repeat it here in short: it's not a song coming from a soundtrack or a ROMrip, it's something I've recorded in game to have the acceleration that comes with it, and the adrenaline and so on. It was difficult to make steps to it because of that fact, and because of the fact the acceleration isn't linear at all. Sometimes it decelerates a bit too. It took me like 6 hours straight to do it, mainly adjusting to have decent synchronization. I also downloaded the longest stage of blue sphere and put it as a background video so that it makes you all dizzy while you play. Both of them accelerates quite frantically at the end but I did found the Chaos Emerald.
My incomprehensible is because of my incomprehensible oral English, because of my Kleenex, my muffled and shy speech, and because my Samsung Galaxy S' mic was pointing towards my back, so it wasn't capturing me directly. Sorry, it's all I had to record myself but at that time I felt like doing it. It wasn't my plan to upload it on YouTube though. I simply wanted to see how it felt like to be watched me play, from an audience's perspective view.
Recurrent history:
So yeah I'm posting some old stuff just because I wanted this channel to know that I'm an avid fan of this game. I enjoy every aspect of it and I think of me as a big musician doing my keystrokes and following the rhythm.
Don't think I'm good at it though. A lot of people on YouTube are A LOT better than I am. If you play StepMania yourself and you want to be impressed Samt0rx has his channel on YouTube but he removed all of him playing StepMania videos; he had a video of him getting AA on 2x rate Quasar, and a lots of great stuff. People commented a lot of shit and started PMing him so I think that's why he removed all of his videos. He wasn't to proud of is inhuman skills and speed and when I told him I was in admiration he suggested me not to do like him, because he considered he had wasted too much time of StepMania, lol. (Here's a list of some impressing videos of the better players, put together, that I've just Googled out http://www.stepmania.com/forums/showthread.php?23784-Best-stepmania-player-ever-You-decide!&p=172102&viewfull=1#post172102)
Anyway loosing track of the subject. One that is more proud of his skills is though is Sigatrev and he's probably the fastest player in the world. I asked him about it and he said that he thought so but that he wasn't the most accurate one. He's like 4.5 times better than me and he plays StepMania on the DANCE PAD. Like in Dance Dance Revolution you know. Anyway check him up if you're curious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzaMf4EfuyE (impressive) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKGkRgnHqoI (my musical preference)
I like to introduce the topics seen in my videos better but I'm out of time right now and StepMania is a free software that simulate DDR arcade game on PC. You all know what DDR is already so you understand how it works, it's just more fun to play it on a keyboard without sweating and with less physical limits. Playing on a keyboard is of course a lot faster and easier. Songs for keyboard players are more difficult in general but some pad players are incredible and can do most of them.
I like StepMania because I like music mainly... and reflex automation, brightly colored, steep learning curve and infinite perfecting curve games.
I have uploaded versions of these videos with overlap of the audio file playing along, and provide download link for it, as usual.

Stepmania -- Saitama Saisyu Heiki - Touhou... filename: video-2010-09-20-11-42-52.3gp
Love (More) filename: video-2010-09-20-11-42-52.3gp
Love this song, both the arrange by S.S.H and the original by ZUN on his Touhou Project. Simfile, stepfile, chart, is from Otaku's Dream website, Video Game Mix #2 namely.
I performed a bit better than I usually perform on this song, so it's a good capture. Sadly the cellphone camcorder shut down itself before the song was finished, for overheating. I had been recording in HD for too long.
By the way I don't play this game anymore because of school. And also because it gets quite time consuming to perfect a technique and always push the bar. And I was never too serious about it. I now play the game on a mechanical keyboard I love. Everyone should type on mechanical keyboards just for the daily satisfaction that it gives. It's an affordable luxury for people who spend a lot of time at their desk.
Anyway, I'm rambling. As usual, my "recurrent history" as an introduction to this series of videos / playlist:
