Hubert Minel (Dolan), a brash 17 year old, dislikes his mother intensely. He gauges her with contempt, only seeing her out-of-date sweater, her kitschy décor and the vile breadcrumbs that lodge in the corners of her noisy mouth. Below the surface of these irritating ... He dabbled in drama during high school, but didn't become serious about acting until enrolled at Northeastern Illinois University, where he majored in theater arts. He left the university in his junior year after he attended a performance of David Mamet's "The American Buffalo" at the St. Nicholas Theater in Chicago. Inspired by the play, he enrolled in the theater's two-year theatrical training program in order to concentrate solely on acting. While visiting a friend in New York City, Pankow auditioned for, and won, a role in a PBS film entitled Life on the Mississippi (1980) (TV). He went on to perform in several off-Broadway productions including "Scheherazade", "Aristocrats", "Italian American Reconciliation", "Hunting Scenes", "Ice Cream/Hot Fudge" and the New York Shakespeare Festival's "Two Gentlemen of Verona" and "Henry VIII". He subsequently made it to Broadway with "Serious Money", "The Iceman Cometh", and as Mozart in "Amadeus", one of his most notable roles to date. In recent years he has reprised the role of 'Stefano' in the runaway hit production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" in Central Park. Pankow has several motion pictures to his credit, including A Stranger Among Us (1992), Mortal Thoughts (1991), Talk Radio (1988), To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), and The Secret of My Succe$s (1987). On the television side, Pankow has guest starred on such series as "Law & Order" (1990), "Spenser: For Hire" (1985), and "Miami Vice" (1984). After several guest spots in the first season of "Mad About You" (1992), he was signed as a cast regular. Pankow is currently involved in developing projects for himself in the theater both as an actor and director. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking for his wife and their daughter. Kristine Sutherland's first love was theater. She went to an audition in high school as moral support for a friend but ended up auditioning herself. She worked as an actress on stage through the 70s and 80s, landing a few pilot roles as well as her small secretary part in Legal Eagles (1986) and her big-screen debut in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), filmed a few months before she became pregnant with her only daughter, Eleanore Pankow. In 1995, Kristine, husband John Pankow (actor, best known as "Ira" on "Mad About You" (1992)) moved to Los Angeles, looking to enjoy their daughter's upbringing. Kristine told as few people as possible that she was moving and was surprised when she received a phone call from her agent, telling her that he found a part she'd be perfect for. She auditioned for the role of "Joyce Summers" on television's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997), her most famous role to date, in which she starred in at least one episode every season. In 1999, John and Kristine decided to move to Italy for a year. The idea was that they'd go for the duration of a school year, giving Eleanore the chance to learn a language organically, as Eleanore is keen on learning languages. Whilst Eleanore studied at school, Kristine flew back into the USA occasionally to film a few episodes in Season 4 of "Buffy". In 2000, they moved back to America, keeping a house in both LA and New York, and Kristine's character "Joyce", was killed. Since the show, Kristine has pursued other interests. She is a very keen photographer and became a qualified photographer thanks to a college course at the Santa Monica College. Kristine currently resides in New York with her husband and daughter. She has been attending Conventions in Germany, England and across America recently, she has starred in an Advil commercial as well as doing voice-acting for a book and an English translation of a Japanese animated film, Neko no ongaeshi (2002) (aka The Cat Returns). Kristine and her husband enjoy cooking Italian. She also enjoys white wine. (Less)
