LYRICS:
I never thought I'd,
I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest, who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time,
I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed, To go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off,You'll board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I cant wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I survived
I can't wait till I get home
To pass the time in my room alone (Less)
FERAL CHILD [Song Only] (Please read... When I first saw this true story on television, I (More) When I first saw this true story on television, I was overcome with emotion. I could not believe what I was seeing, then something else hit me... "A song idea.. this could be the most important song I ever make." "Feral Child" The story of "Genie" who had been locked in a room, in social isolation for most of her life. Forced to sit alone, day after day, with little more than bare walls to look at. When rescued in 1970, social workers found that she could barely walk, and had never learned to speak. For more information on her story, you can go here: http://www.feralchildren.com/en/showchild.php?ch=genie And they even gave me my own page with this song (available for download, go to this page and right click on the MP3 link, then hit "save") and also the lyrics, a total honor for me: http://www.feralchildren.com/en/listbooks.php?bk=lewis2007 I have poured everything in my very soul into this song. I hope you get something out of it... Like how lucky we are to be who we are... and I'm so lucky to have all of you to call my family and friends. Please understand, I would never try to profit or take advantage of someone else's misfortune. This song happened purely because this story gripped me by my very soul... and forced me to do it. This is just a musician's way of telling a story. Tom: Lyrics-Music-Vocals-Recording Special thanks to my brother Darren, for showing me everything I know about digital audio recording. LYRICS Genie was just a child, a prisoner in her home They kept her locked away from the world No friends, no affection, always left alone Total isolation for this girl There in her chair, feeling lonely and cold Not allowed to walk, never learned to talk Thirteen years, confined to one space Did she think this was a normal way to live? Afraid to cry, she was treated the way That no one could ever forgive It was far from abuse, it was so much more No one would believe what they saw beyond that door How could anyone do this? (Feral Child) How could they put you through this? (Feral Child) Can you ever be saved now? (She can't even smile) But you're not to blame now (Feral Child) Finally they found her, and took her away To see what was left of her mind Had she missed the 'window' to learn how to speak? Or was it possible to turn back time? Oh, at least she was free, to discover the world Everything was new to this feral girl Signs of progress were proving everyone wrong The doctors were all amazed But Genie was still haunted by the memories of her past A traumatized mind in a haze Oh, the learning slowed down, Genie still felt alone Sentenced to serve her time in foster homes How could anyone do this? (Feral Child) How could they put you through this? (Feral Child) Can you ever be changed now? (She can't even smile) But you're not to blame now (Feral Child) (Instrumental) There's no happy ending, this waste of a life There's no telling what might have been There was so much promise, now all hope is gone For the one who could never seem to win Now she's there in her chair, staring down at the floor Lost in her own world, just like before How could anyone do this? How could they put you through this? Feral child How could anyone do this? (Feral Child) How could they put you through this? (Feral Child) Can you ever be changed now? (She can't even smile) But you're not to blame now (Feral Child) ©Copyright 2007 TomsterMusic Honors for This Video: #54 - Top Rated (Today) - Music #33 - Most Discussed (Today) - Music (Less)
