Uncle Max (Original Song) I wrote this when I was living with my mom in Northern B.C. for my mom's cousin's father (More) I wrote this when I was living with my mom in Northern B.C. for my mom's cousin's father whom i refer to as my Uncle Max (his last name is Israelite). He was a very amazing person, deeply thoughtful and caring, and incredibly intelligent. In his later years he started writing and had great success. I always admired him and when he sick in the hospital i wrote him this song to help make him feel better even if it was just for a moment! I had to read the lyrics cuz i hadn't looked at this song in awhile for obvious reasons. Not a perfect take, but hey thats life!
Instrumental: Ready or Not (by the Fugees)
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
This is my rap about my uncle max,
Not even my uncle though he's been more than that,
When my mom was in trouble he came supported her fast.
Gave her some slack, helped her get back on the track.
But to me you see this was a mitzvah,
And I really hope you know that we all miss ya,
We wish you well, we want you back in health,
There's love for you here, if you can't already tell.
And from us to you here's some kisses and hugs,
We're up in Terrace and we're missin your mug
You got me up here praying and I don't even believe,
So I'm up here relaying to show this feeling in me,
I try to be a poet in case you didn't notice,
Though it'd be sweet hopin, to even reach a token,
Of skill with the quill, that you seem to weild,
The stuff you wrote it always screamed "I'm real,"
And funny, and no this wasn't wrote for money,
I wrote this stuff down cuz it provoked me wondering,
If maybe something out there needs re-thinking.
Sometimes in TIME we find freaky kinks in,
The system, and this when this man hits this pen,
To this pad, but its sad spittin this when,
The only man in my fam that chose decency
As the main thing bumpin in his frequency
Is strugglin, to just move to a place,
As trouble getting just one damn space.
I'd flip the doc off, you should get a bed for free,
Helped my pop pop, you got so much integrity
Ya see it speaks to me about ya character,
Cuz I seek to be a man who's about caring for,
All of his family leaving no one behind,
Like you did in the war, repairing broken lines,
Of communication, hope this groove is makin,
Ya feel a little better, hope it soothes the achin,
And your amazin, when I get contemplatin,
He's my relations, gets my respect admiration.
Chorus 1:
Can't wait for the day when we're standing adjacent,
You can't leave us, cuz we aint got no replacement,
You know that we all are pullin for you,
See me shoot these much love bullets at you.
(x2)
Verse 2:
And I think being a farmer, prolly made good karma,
Musta been something to see them dressed up pumpkins,
In the back or sat up in the passenger seat,
Passer-byes must have had a damn laughin spree.
But then you denied what they said you should try,
At your age at your pace, but instead you would defy,
All of them, won't talk of them, cuz they were wrong,
Don't even deserve a word of play in your song.
Well yes I wrote it, but it was clearly for you,
When the pen stroke hits, I think sincerely of you,
Hope to be a chap with half the chutzpah that you have,
But holy crap I only have, just the one jew half.
Did that punch line crunch boy I hope it did,
It took my lunch time up, toyed as I wrote it with,
The best most precise delivery on mic,
Keep the cheese from the mice, deliver me one slice,
Of the life you've led I'd like a bite of it,
Wanna find a women to love, my wife with kids.
Wanna raise them right, and watch them grow up,
Even if it's late at night and got to watch them throw up,
I wanna be there through the thick and thin,
To always beware to do the stickin when,
Someone needs me I'll go freely,
And to my Uncle Max I hope you feel me,
And though I don't need ta, speak to auntie Neita,
Just keep on being the Larry Orstein sweetena
Yes he's a kermujin, but we gotta love him,
Huntin down Nazis with a pen and a pad,
Neita would stop me if I tried to trade dads,
This Bud's for you, my clever hand is shakin
I love you dude, never recant the statement
Chorus 2:
Can't wait for the day when we're standing adjacent,
Please don't leave us, cuz we can't get a replacement,
You know that we all are pullin for you,
See me shoot these much love bullets at you.
(x2)
I love you Uncle Max.
Stay strong.
Peace. (Less)
