Riders Reunion 2001 Hollywood Florida July 26-August 1st, 2001 How can I express to you the shear delight in being invited to be apart of what was once only a vision of mine, to meet the legendary Wayne Cochran . I couldn't believe it when I was invited to be apart of the reunion of what is considered to be the greatest and most respected Rhythm & Blues and Soul organization of all time.......... Walkin Cane Mark & The Great Wayne Cochran 2001 The C.C. Riders are not only amazing musicians but very down to earth and supportive. I never imagined that I would be not only embraced but adopted by these fantastic folks, I never thought I'd ever have these many uncles! I thank you all so much for everything. I hope my friends and fans enjoy the photos I've posted on this page. T-Don Capron T-Don is the man I wanted to start the photo's off with because he in the one CC Rider that spanned the entire gamut and is what the C.C. Riders consider to be the quintessential C.C. rider. T-Don blows his trumpet on most all of the Wayne Cochran recordings! Harry Hann "Horrible" Harry Hann still resides in Florida with his wife a renowned Jazz Vocalist named Michel Amato. Harry worked with The C.C. Riders at the start and is featured on the chess LP "WAYNE COCHRAN!" Junior Michael's Gets Down with it! Junior is the man belting out those amazing saxophone solos on the lp that Quincy Jones keeps in his personal collection "High & Riden". "Funky" Phil Dimaio Phil is probably closest to my heart, as reunion time grew closer some different events came up that could have prevented me from attending (or the reunion happening all together). Its because of his insistence that my dream came true, he says that I am the youngest C.C. Rider (I still get a tear in my eye thinking about that). More importantly its because of Phil that this reunion went off so smoothly ...we all owe you so much Uncle Phil! Phil is on the King lp "Alive and Well..." and the Bethlehem Lp "High And Ridin'". Mike Verbois setting the record straight. Mike was there at the start! At the reunion he kept us spell bound with his stories and is probably the nicest man I've ever met. Mike had plenty of priceless slides of my favorite era of Wayne Cochran, the early years when he played the Appalo and Regale theaters. Mike played tenor sax on the Chess Lp. Allen Robinson, Mike Katz & Rodney Lafon Allen tore it up on drums, Mike Katz didn't perform but provided the sound, and Rodney whipped out his soulful horn. Skip Weisser, Bob Gable, Junior and Chispa Rousselle Skip and Bob are from the worlds famous epic lp "Cochran", Chispa was also on the "High & Ridin'" lp. The great Ira Sullivan Played for the Riders on Sat night, Harry's wife Michelle sat in and wowed us all. The C.C. Rider Wives These ladies are the people that really sacrificed for the music! Charlie Brent The infamous leader of the C.C. Riders is a master arranger and responsible for the great arrangements on most of the Wayne Cochran lps including the Great "Cochran" lp. Emil Handke The drummer on the original "No Rest For The Wicked", the tune I end my first set with every night......what a trip! The fantastic Don Mattucci ! Don has the biggest heart of all the C.C. Riders. He is probably the most loved by every one (including yours truly). AND NOW THE MOMENT OF TRUTH! Performing with the legendary CC Riders! They brought me up to "Can't Turn You Loose" we tore up "Harlem Shuffle" and through down "Goin Back To Miami"! Lord have mercy!!!!!! Wayne Cochran addresses The Riders at dinner... "I didn't believe it but after all these years I no see it can be done!" That Sunday we all went and attended Wayne's wonderful "Voice Of Jesus" Church. The Reunion high point was when the guys performed with Wayne at his church. The great soul man was in rare form! He was soooo FUNKY he should be put on a postage stamp!!!!! Two generation's of soul! Thank you C.C. Riders for everything and especially to Pastor Cochran, you literally warmed my heart and touched my soul....my life was changed for ever! (Less)
