Leona Lewis: sings with conviction
Alive with drama and conviction, her soul-baring rendition of Bleeding Love reached right to the very back of the cavernous Earls Court.
So it's no surprise to find the song at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in America, propelled there by another impassioned delivery of this potent and extremely memorable song on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
So how excatly did Lewis become the first British woman since Kim Wilde in the 80s to be No1 in America?
There are three reasons.
Firstly the US singles chart has long been dominated dominated by urban music - and this is a base that the mixed-race Lewis covers, hence her appearing on Oprah and being exposed to the key urban music buying audience.
Secondly Lewis found fame through winning the X Factor, and is therefore a protegee of the programme's mastermind Simon Cowell, a music mogul of almost unrivalled power and influence.
But most of all Lewis is at the top because the song is rivetting and she pours every ounce of emotion she has into singing it.
The lung-busting female ballad is beloved by American audiences - from Celine Dion to Whitney Houston and Bonnie Tyler.
Islington's own Leona Lewis now joins those mega-selling ranks by using the same simple formula: a strong song, sung from the heart. (Less)

The pictures are to describe/support the scenes, environments, camera-angles, actions, expressions (sometimes) and the clothes are just a suggestion for them to wear.
The pics aren't always a perfect fit but I tried my best to get pics that go with the story of the video.
Other Jonas Brothers videos I made are "6 Minutes" and "Just Friends"
This song was requested by a few people but when my 500th subscriber, XoXrawkstarXoX, mentioned it was her favorite, I made a video for it as a 500th-subscriber-celebration.
Lyrics:
Take my hand tonight
We can run so far
We can change the world to anything you want
We can talk for hours just staring at the stars
They shine down to show us
Chorus:
That you know when the sun forgets to shine
I'll be there to hold you through the night
And we'll be running so fast we can fly tonight
And even when we're miles and miles apart
You're still holding all of my heart
I promise it will never be dark
I know..we're inseparable
We could run forever if you want
And I would not get tired
Because I'd be with you
I can tell you're listening until the very end
We have done all these things
Repeat chorus
I would give it up
To never let you fall
Cause you know we're inseparable
I would give it all
Just to show you I'm in love
Yea you know we're inseparable
Repeat chorus
