King Diamond - The Ritual (with solo's) "Following the demise of the legendary Mercyful Fate in the mid-eighties, infamous frontman (More) "Following the demise of the legendary Mercyful Fate in the mid-eighties, infamous frontman King Diamond decided to form a new band named after himself, initially bringing two other MF members with him. The early King Diamond material was a continuation of the Mercyful Fate sound, perhaps a bit more vocal-oriented and a bit less thrashy. Additionally, the satanic lyrics (one of the main reasons why MF split up) were considerably toned down, and now King delves into horror stories for lyrical inspiration. In my opinion, the band's best two albums are Them and Abigail, though all of the albums are of consistently good quality. Eventually Mercyful Fate reformed, and King has been touring and recording with both bands for some time now. The newest KD album, released in October 2003, is The Puppet Master."
