The first birthday for Korean children are the most important and usually celebrated very traditionally. Part of it involves laying out different objects representing different things in life. You allow your child to select one of these objects and the first item they choose is supposed to represent their passion in life (future) or something that relates to/represent what they will do when adults. Our baby had liked books / letters since she was less than a week old so we put out a bible in case she might be attracted to animation but lets see if she still selects it... (Less)
US Samsung YP-T10 JAB Running on 2.00 MCS Korean Firmware I did it, found a hacked 2.00 Korean firmware that would work on the YP-T10 Samsung player, and (More) I did it, found a hacked 2.00 Korean firmware that would work on the YP-T10 Samsung player, and added necessary DLL's from ffmpeg and the POSIX pthread.dll so that Samsung Media Studio can create compatible videos for the player. Search the net for help, you might find my message about how I upgraded this player to YP-T10.. I won't tell you where it is, but there is truth out there how to do this.. I did this so I could use the T10 with Ubuntu, instead of Windows which is required with the American Firmware. I haven't checked to see if Microsoft's sync software or WMA DRM will work with it, but I sync'd video from Windows SMS and copied mp3's from Ubuntu, on the same player.. When I learn how to transfer videos on Ubuntu, which is feasible as the MCS firmware probably uses ffmpeg (open source) decoders if SMS is making calls to extra dll's that are not available with SMS normally.. Anyhow, it works, it looks fantastic.. If you get the firmware that works with Ubuntu, the "MCS" (versus MTR?, MRT? used with Windows) it will take about 15 to 20 seconds for the player to connect to Ubuntu, this is normal.. But it does and you can copy your content over directly.. Different from the 1.80 Korean firmware for the T9, the T10 allows better integration for mp3 files on the Korean firmware, without a SMS (samsung Media Studio) sync. Like I can peruse albums, artists, and genres (which is builtin to the mp3 format BTW), without doing anything special, the T10 will gather this information together and left you thumb through it however.. The only problem with the T10's aside from the lack of tactile controls (OLED is cute but its too sensitive and unless you are a korean, most are under 5 feet and have small fingers, you probably won't be able to use this device accurately with your big 6'3" texan hands, like mine.. I can easily hit the whole pad with my thumb.. Again, the only problem, besides that, is there is no flash-lite games to play. The T9 has them but the T10 doesn't.. However the T10 has bluetooth support.. So if you have a wireless receiver, you can play the T10 over that if it has bluetooth.. I heard elsewhere that you can have three sets of bluetooth headsets served by the player, so you and your friends can listen to the same music files, music videos,FM radio, podcasts, and whatever else.. What would be neat is a voice synthesizer to read text files.. Note the new DNSe audio capabilities, that add real reverb effects, like concert halls.. Show me the apple equivalent.. Come on come on.. Show me the money.. And the same resolution video as a Nano video player, only a better contrast ratio.. Oh Fuck, the T10 does not support MP3 bookmarking, you can't bookmark audio books.. Well the scan capability will allow you FFWD through the audio file, but still this is a feature with the T9 that should be in the T10... Those darn ignorant product designers.. You know Samsung must have shifter their managers and personel around. I was involved with a south korean web company that did that with their people and that crushed their company into a bunch of mini web companies because changing managers ruined the trust the designers had with the conglomerate.. Maybe Samsung assigned a different group of designers to the task.. Well they really flubbed this one.. Oh well, if you want to play audio books and bookmark your spot, use the T9.. If you put your audio book in the datacasts section, you could power off and power on to pick up where you were.. Anyhow.. Still is kinda dumb.. The text browser is the only thing that has bookmarks (Duh).. You can tell there was a communications error there.. This is the sort of disconnect you hear, such as what happened to Wal-Mart did with a company that was handling their internal media needs.. Now there is 15,000 internal company videos up for sale to anti-WalMart documentaries. Oh well maybe Samsung will learn from this one.. (Less)
