There is a slight hiccup near the end because my can only record video 180 seconds at a time.
Lyrics:
I've been hustlin' since kindergarten was a pre-show
Jumpin rivers in my Mutant Ninja Turtle velcroes
And Bugle Boy, the whole neighborhood knows how it feels
Super-Soaked in a squirt-by from the kid in Power Wheels
Not raised in projects, I was makin' projects
In science class, grow a bean and then I pass
Cause you got no soul if you ain't on the Honor Roll
And I will not trade six pogs for a fluffy troll
And I've been locked up, private school was my pen
My biggest concern was keepin' my shirt tucked in
The only Crack(le) I knew hung out with Snap and Pop
If you say "Red light!" there's no doubt I'm gonna stop
Drop, shut em' down open up hip-hop
Used to watch Muppet Babies, never been on Cops
It only took one try to know I didn't like mustard
Had a problem? Then I just call Ghostbusters...
The wood playgrounds all got torn down
when I drive through my home town.
They're all plastic now.
Planet Kids and Discovery Zone
went under to make room for furniture stores.
1960s nostalgia films and 1970s home movie stills
played vibrant in another life,
one kind that slept through the night.
War in the backyard, peace in the tree house.
On my front lawn, there was always a crowd
for summer games, like capture the flag.
I was always the last one out.
I'd wake up at 6 AM on Saturday mornings
for sugar cereal and cartoon glory,
before going to the Little League field
for nachos, hide and seek, bike rides,
and some new cool story.
And then, in the afternoon,
I'd be in my grandparents' pool,
or out playing with kites or balloons,
cards with friends, odds and ends,
seeing the world through a kaleidoscope lens.
I would watch Sesame Street and think
that I was the smartest boy alive
before I realized that I was only five
and I would have to apologize
for calling all my teachers idiots.
They called it dissension. I called it reinvention.
I had so much to say that I got a detention
for talking straight through the morning Pledge of Allegiance.
I was weary of authority figures,
because all they did was talk and take my action figures.
The people that I trusted best was a short list.
It was always my parents and Johnny Quest.
I learned politics from playing cowboys and Indians.
From X-Men, I learned about discrimination.
From The Twilight Zone, I learned America was scared
of communism and an alien invasion.
Chorus.
Bubble gum bubble gum in a dish
How many G.I. Joes did I wish?
That i had-- my cousin had more and I was mad
So I was wearin courdoroys when it was cool to wear plaid
My hero was Mike Piazza
I wet the bed a lotsa
So my my sheets would stain
Just like the corners of my mouth
when I would pound the Gatorade
I took my gin and juice without the first one
Got excited when my Lunchable came with CapriSun
Readin' Goosebumps was scary like red rum
Gotta hide under the covers when the monsters come
I was more pale than the bucket that I took to the beach
Looked like "The Bearenstein Bears and Not Enough Teeth"
But I could still disappear in some hide and seek
I was faster than Benny in the Sandlot heat
Rad guitar solo.
Chorus. (Less)
