Innovation Café: Changing Space for a Creative Class (Part 1) With our ongoing advancements in city development and growth, it’s important to preserve some (More) With our ongoing advancements in city development and growth, it’s important to preserve some of the city’s local history and to also encourage the community of artists in our region to continue expressing their talent, even at economic times like these. That being said, we have three select people who have created iconic spaces as mediums for the creative community to portray their talent in Hamilton and Toronto. Jeremy Freiburger is the founder and director of the Imperial Cotton Centre of the Arts in Hamilton and he has converted an industrial building and a vacant school into a space for the local artisans of Hamilton. Ghazaleh Etezal is the director of The StoreFront Community Project in Toronto. The StoreFront is about experimenting the possibilities of an empty storefront with people, space and creativity in order to build community and strengthen civic-engagement in a neighbourhood. Furthermore, McMaster Innovation Park (MIP) president Zach Douglas is heading a project started in 2005, revamping the Camco/Westinghouse site to a potential hot spot for research and commercialization in Ontario. Moderating the café will be Pernell Goodyear, founder of The Freeway Café in Hamilton. (Less)
