Churches & monasteries of Jerusalem. Easter hyms Churches & monasteries of Jerusalem
1- The Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem, built at the (More) Churches & monasteries of Jerusalem
1- The Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem, built at the epoch of Constantine the great or at the epoch of Justinian and Theodora and was rased to the ground by Persians, it was rebuilt at the 11th century by Georgians (under the patronage of Queen Tamar of Georgia), is situated in the Valley of the Cross (Georgian: ჯვრის მონასტერი, Hebrew: עמק המצלבה Emeq HaMatzlevah) ( 31°46'20.27"N, 35°12'30.96"E, 783m) overlooked by the Israel Museum and the Knesset.
2- Gethsemane (from the Hebrew "Gat Shemanim", which means "oil press", Γεθσημανι ) was the garden where, according to the New Testament and Christian traditions, Jesus and his disciples retreated to pray after the Last Supper, the night before he was crucified (see Atonement). According to Luke 22:43--44, Jesus' anguish in Gethsemane was so deep that "his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." Gethsemane was also where Christ was betrayed by the disciple Judas Iscariot. Furthermore Catholic and Orthodox tradition holds that Gethsemane is the place where the Apostles buried the Blessed Virgin Mary, after her dormition.
3- Mary's Tomb is a tomb located in the Kidron Valley, on the foothills of Mount of Olives, near the Church of All Nations and Gethsemane garden, originally just outside Jerusalem. It is attributed to Theotokos (Mary, the mother of GOD, in a contrary to the term Christothokos mother of JESUS CHRIST, it's an old byzantine doctrinal debate which ended by siding of the first term) by Eastern Christians.
