I cut this song in 1995 with young fresh faced discovery, Warren Shaw, a singer who liked my productions so much that he sought me out and asked me to record him. At that time I was cutting a lot of demos with John Reid of The Nightcrawlers, the guy who much more recently recently wrote the number one singles for both Kelly Clarkson and Leona, and has sold millions more records than he did when he used to come down every week from Glasgow and co-write songs with me. But we did write some hits together for Bad Boys Inc, Optimystic, Gemini, and Upside Down, and I loved to write with John, so I did so every week at every available opportunity, stockpiling a huge amount of unused demos. So we had no lack of great tracks on which we could try out Warren's style and vocal, and develop him as an artist. Then Paul Klein in Miami really liked the songs and the arrangements, so he put out Warren's debut album in the USA, on his label Hot Records, called "The Other Side Of Midnight". Well, this is the album that collectors of Ian Levine product go nuts for, quite simply because it probably didn't sell more than five copies, and Hot went bust almost immediately after the album got pressed. I think, along with the first Midnight Sunrise single on Mercury in 1976, it must be the rarest and most unknown of all the records I have ever produced in my life. Which is a shame as it really is a storming blast of good old, unadulterated, un-watered down, out-and-out, high energy, in its purest form. I wonder what happened to Warren ?? I haven't heard a peep from him for twelve years. (Less)
