Tier List Video Update 9: Crowd Clearing Test BACKGROUND (info for external viewers not participating in the tier list topics on gamefaqs):
(More) BACKGROUND (info for external viewers not participating in the tier list topics on gamefaqs):
This video if for my buddies on gamefaqs who are working on the tier list for Warriors Orochi. This tier list is for maximized gameplay only. The tier list trend in Warriors Orochi is a gigantic top tier (roughly half the characters in the game) and underneath this tier are several more balanced tiers. The flash element is basically what allows about half the characters in this game to be able to have a very fast offense in Chaos Mode.
With overall offensive and defensive moveset capabilities, we have chosen to use SW 8-X as a testing stage, because it puts all the characters through various different important scenarios ranging from single officers to multiple officers, in small to large crowds. This stage also features double defense Lu Bu who is the strongest opponent in this game, defense-wise. Doing exceptional well in this stage will qualify characters for the current top tier in our in-progress tier list.
Now, since this top tier is so huge, we've adopted three secondary tests in order to rank the characters accurately - Crowd Clearing, Archers Hordes Destroying and Survival, and Officer Pileup. All three of these tests are objective tests, and are either observable (but theoretical), or numerical, comparisons. We have agreed on these three tests to be secondary, because
1) they are all extreme cases, and thus don't occur in the average 5-star Chaos stage
2) they can all be avoided, so some characters may be placed lower if they are inferior to others in any of these tests, when avoiding such scenarios can be an option
3) Ultimately, killing officers quickly is the main focus in practically every single stage in this game, which is why the various scenarios in SW 8-X are perfect for primary testing.
However, with all these points in mind, even though these three secondary tests are more minor tests, one would argue that if a moveset can kill more peons, or has better survivability in tough archer crowd scenarios, or can defeat 10+ multiple officers at once relatively quicker, then it is a superior moveset.

CROWD CLEARING TEST:
Ok, the purpose of this video is simply to show everyone participating in the tier list topic on Gamefaqs, the method I've come up with to test the crowd clearing ability of all movesets, as accurate as I possible. Because explaining the method in words may be a bit hard to understand, I have made this video to show this method.
1) Use Diao Chan or any other really good archer killer (Kunoichi is another good one). Proceed east along the path and eliminate all archer leaders on the way, all the way up to Misuyasu Shimura (there is usually another group of archers just beside Shimura, but there wasn't in this video, so I skipped it. Skipping it was sort of ok in this case because Zhou Tai was the one being tested, and he's quite good with avoiding archers while crowd clearing). The reason for eliminating the archers is to ensure that this test is strictly a crowd clearing test. If there are too many archer interfering, it will turn in to a partial archer survival test. The reason for trying not to get hit is to keep the randomness of the peons crowds as constant as possible.
2) Now walk back west, and head into that base. There should be a large group of peons JUST past this base. Walk until the you've caught the attention of this crowd (or at least most of it). It's ok to walk just past the base, but not too far past it. Pause here and save. The time remaining should be about 29:30. It is important to ensure that the time remaining/elapsed is around this time.
3) Use the best crowd clearing moves for testing, and do crowd clearing runs that last only 40 seconds. If this test was set up correctly, after about 40 seconds, crowds begin to die down (with Mitsunari, who is by far the best crowd clearer), and significant sources of error in the testing start to develop. Keeping the time constant, you can test for KO count, and come up with KO rates for all the top tier characters. The more times you do this, the more reliable the data is. The sample size I chose for each character is 5. My runs are usually within at least 15% of each other, so this sample size should be good enough I think.
After showing how to set this up, I show a few examples, of the more interesting characters.
