Grinch Who Tripped Up Santa This is my take on a Christmas display I created at Half Price Books in Everett, WA. I thought it (More) This is my take on a Christmas display I created at Half Price Books in Everett, WA. I thought it would be funny if Dr Seuss' the Grinch was pointing at Santa's legs which had fallen through the ceiling. Then I realized it would be even better to have the legs move!
How I made the legs move: There's a button by the cash registers and it's controlled by the employees. I took a toy I found at Spencer's gifts (Humphrey The Humpy Puppy) and basically Frankensteined the motor from the toy and put it into Santa's right leg. The outfit I made from thrift store clothing, and the white fur is actually a boa I trimmed down.
I had to adapt the DC battery power unit to an AC wall unit, and add a switch I found at Radio Shack.
The Grinch is made from a wooden skeleton, covered in chicken wire and then paper mache and plaster was added. The face was done in clay and then painted. Clothing again came from a thrift store.
It's so fun to watch children laugh in amazement at the display. (Personally, I think that's why it's worth all the hard work.)
Thanks it! Email me if you have more questions.
Sadly the 1st time I uploaded it, the audio didn't play. (Music by Aimee Mann & Grant Lee Phillips from Aimee Mann's "One More Drifter In The Snow.")
Display is currently at Half Price Books Bookstore in Everett Washington (WA) (Less)
