Special greatest hits CD from the record label that introduced the world to the Miami hip hop underground! Botanica del Jibaro which was founded in 2002 to voice the message of the Miami underground. After NYC created hip hop in the late 70's and various sounds of electro funk in the early 80's, other cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit started to pick up on the sounds and vibe. Miami was no exception, creating what people would come to know as Miami Bass. And since Miami is a center of black culture mixed with Latin American and Caribbean culture, dance was the main force of the movement, and Miami bass is known mostly as dance, with MC's not having much depth in lyrics. In the 90's things started to change in Miami, MC's started to emerge from the underground with heavy and deep lyrics on their mind, but most people in Miami were not ready for what was forming. For example, Stres, the MC from Antennae/Evolver has been easily rhyming for about 15 years with a style that is unique as it is complex. His first project was Spirit Agent, which released in the late 90's on Navigators Inc and later a 12" single on Counterflow Recordings, was the first sign from Miami's underground of things to come. There were many MC's that rhymed but few that had their own style that represented the depth of the Miami state of mind. MC's like Seven Star, Serum, Soarse Spoken, Solo-man Spectrum, Cise & Akin (CYNE), Dr. Faustus & Seth P. Brundel (Algorithm), Bern Biz aka Equate (Evolver), Omniscient, etc. have all walked into the Botanica del Jibaro headquarters to talk to La Mano Fria about releasing their music. And also with an amazing team of producers like Climber, Epstein, Manuvers, Spec & Enoch (CYNE), Plex (Algorithm), Sharpsound, Deviant, etc. And since then Botanica del Jibaro has been all around the world from Tokyo to Portugal, from Glasgow to Buenos Aires, spreading the message. Beta Bodega Coalition's official hip hop label is proud to presents Botanica All-Stars a collection of some of our favorite songs from the part years. The voices they thought they silenced! (Less)
