FF9PGWSF 69 - Red Dragons Items Obtained: Gaia Gear, Demon's Mail, Elixir Steals and Spoils: 15,468 gil, 2 Ethers, (More) Items Obtained: Gaia Gear, Demon's Mail, Elixir Steals and Spoils: 15,468 gil, 2 Ethers, 15,468 gil, 2 Ethers, 7,734 gil, Sapphire, Ether Moogle Letter: Delivered a letter from Moolan to Mogtaka "Where Is Mognet Central?" Quina got Zombied a couple of videos ago and prepared for Limit Glove. Now I don't have to rely on Stop to take care of the Red Dragons. I can now just kill them with a Limit Glove, and have Quina be the only one standing at the end of the battles. Instead of relying on Stop, I can just wait for ATB's to be in my favor. While that is random, at this level I find it much more reliable than Stop. The first pair of Red Dragons is the hardest to get to. I have to go through that room with all the stairs, get the Gaia Gear and go all the way back down without a random battle, which is not that easy. Then I have to win against the Red Dragons. The way I have it set up, if either Steiner or Quina go first, one of them can potentially take out a Red Dragon. Steiner can inflict Heat, and if he does the Red Dragon will self-KO with its next turn. Or Quina can just take one out with a Limit Glove if s/he gets the first turn. Then, the other Red Dragon needs to use Dive and not KO Quina. After that, the battle is won. It's really not as difficult as it sounds. Because of getting the Gaia Gear, even though having Steiner inflict Heat on the first one would be faster, I was going to take which ever one happened first. The second pair is much easier to get to, which means I have more chances with the battle. I changed Steiner's equipment because of an idea I had that involved Zidane's Annoy ability. I was going to put Trouble on one of the Red Dragons, use Limit Glove on it, have Steiner attack the other one, and then Eat the other Red Dragon. However, if you notice when a monster dies from Limit Glove, they die and then the damage is shown. When monsters die, their status effect icons go away, and that Trouble icon needs to be there for the damage to be dealt to the other monsters, so this idea can't work. It didn't matter anyway, because this battle went just like the last one, which is fine, and I can just use Steiner's set up for the third Red Dragon battle. And now Quina is out of MP, but never fear... Steiner: Ice Brand, Cross Helm, Venetia Shield, Shield Armor, Black Belt MP Attack, Bird Killer Vivi: Octogon Rod, Magus Hat, Egoist's Armlet, Magician Cloak, Magician Shoes For the final Red Dragon, Quina can Eat it. There are 3 places to learn Twister: 1. Pandemonium, from an Abadon 2. Crystal World, from a Crystal Tiamat 3. Mount Gulug, from a Red Dragon I don't have time to learn it in Pandemonium, and going all the way to the Crystal World is rather annoying. However, since I have Quina Zombied, I can Eat this last Red Dragon. Steiner has an added Ice element to his attack, and they both have Raise Ice Elem-Atk equipped. Since Red Dragons are weak against Ice, Steiner's attack and Blizzaga will do a lot of damage. So all that needs to happen is for Steiner and Vivi to get the first turn. After their attacks, the Red Dragon must use Dive and not KO Quina. If the happens, the battle is won. This was actually harder to do than with the pairs of Red Dragons. Quina learns Twister. And thanks to him/her handling these battles instead of Vivi, I have an extra 38,670 gil and 5 more Ethers. :-) And finally, I set everyone up for Meltigemini: Zidane: Zorlin Shape, Black Hood, N-Kai Armlet, Leather Shirt, Power Belt Accuracy+, Distract, MP Attack, Devil Killer, Protect Girls Steiner: Flame Saber, Cross Helm, Diamond Gloves, Shield Armor, Reflect Ring Distract, MP Attack, Devil Killer, Ability Up Quina: Silver Fork, Golden Hairpin, N-Kai Armlet, Magician Cloak, Rebirth Ring Auto-Life, Ability Up I give Vivi the Mage Staff and remove all of his equipment. Everyone say goodbye to Vivi, this was his last battle during this challenge. Total FMV Time: 28:43 Adjusted Save Time: 8:43:54 Guide Time: 9:29:48 (Less)
