ABC Beth Holloway response on Peter de Vries Show This scene is taken from the Peter r de Vries show which showcased the Natalee Holloway / Joran van (More) This scene is taken from the Peter r de Vries show which showcased the Natalee Holloway / Joran van de Sloot undercover tapes that have been broadcasted on sunday February 3rd 2008 on SBS6 in the Netherlands.
It hasn't been shown on the ABC 20/20 broadcast from February 4th, so that's why i have decided to put it online on Youtube.
I think it is a beautiful scene. While some people in The Netherlands have condemnded it because they think it is too dramatized, i think it is very important as a conclusion for the whole documentary.
It starts with Peter asking her to come to Holland because of a major breakthrough. She picks her up at the airport and then takes her to his studio.
What we see here is Beth Holloway in shock, because of the footage she sees of Joran. Peter makes a few statements like 'no regret at all', but i don't think Beth even clearly hears what he is saying. She is too astonished of what she is watching.
At the end she breaks and basicly condemns Joran. I think it is very important that they have shown this.
It clearly shows in what kind of culture and world she is living, how she thinks and how all this personally effects her.
I got quite emotional of this scene. I think the editing and camerawork is very good and that they have used some beautiful music. It all perfectly matched.
I was in shock from all the footage of Joran i had seen that night... this worked as a tear breaker.
The whole documentary came to a climax: anger of what Joran had said, astonishment, amazement... it all came loose.
It looks like a movie, but in fact all we had just seen was damn true.
Before and after the documentary Joran claimed that everything he had said was a lie. He just wanted to look like a cool guy.
I think it's everyone for himself of what he thinks of it. But in my opinion, the first half of the footage was psychologically
very authentic. (his body language and the way he said things)
I think he was very honest about what he said. But, after the moment when Patrick (the undercover guy) decided (on instruction of Peter)
to ask more detailed questions, i think that is where Joran got a little suspicious and from that moment started telling lies.
The whole broadcast and also this scene is one of the biggest tv moments in Dutch history. More than 7 million people have watched this
documentary and it will rank high up in the view figures. It is also one of the first times we have seen someone publically judged by using hidden
camera's. A new form of 'big brother is watching you'.
I hope you will think it is just as good as i think it is. And may we never forget of what we have seen from Joran that night. (Less)

Brothers Christopher and Peter Hitchens, both journalists and authors, couldn't be more different and are bitterly divided. A friend to both said, "one is a conservative,
traditionalist, church-going Anglican; the other a liberal, louche, drinking-and-smoking atheist." The brothers, throughout a long
estrangement and recent reconciliation, have clashed in print on many issues.
Christopher, who works in Washington, D.C., has written 20 books
including scathing critiques of Henry Kissinger, Bill Clinton and Mother
Teresa. Most recently, he wrote a book on atheism, God is Not Great: How
Religion Poisons Everything. Younger brother Peter works in England as a
columnist for the Mail on Sunday. He is author of The Abolition of
Britain and The Abolition of Liberty.
Grand Valley State University's Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies and the Center for Inquiry will bring the two together on a stage for the first time to debate numerous issues, from religion to Iraq.
Hitchens vs. Hitchens: On God, War, Politics, and Culture will take place Thursday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain St. SE in Grand Rapids. Tickets are $15, available through
www.startickets.com, keyword: "Hitchens."
The event will also be webcast live at www.allpresidents.org (Less)
