De albums An Old Raincoat, Gasoline Alley, Never A Dull Moment, Smiler, A Nods As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse en Ooh La La worden gerekend tot de belangrijkste Rock albums. In de volgende periode is hij het populairst. Met Sailing scoort hij in Nederland in 1975 zijn enige nummer 1 hit. Daarna volgen andere hits o.a.: Tonights The Night (nummer 7 in 76), I Dont Want To Talk About It (nummer 3 in 77), Youre In My Heart (7 in 77), Hot Legs (14 in 78 ), Do You Think Im Sexy (4 in 78 ) en Passion (4 in 80). Daarna neemt zijn produktiviteit wat af en is hij meer bekend als de rockster, dan om zijn muzikale talent. .......................................... Ronald Isley (IPA: ['aɪzliː]) (b. May 21, 1941, Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American pop, rock, soul, and R&B singer and is known as the lead singer and founding member of the legendary family music group The Isley Brothers. He is currently serving time in Federal Prison for tax evasion in Terre Haute, IN according to the Bureau of Prisons website. As a young adolescent, Ronald and his brothers Rudolph, O'Kelly and Vernon Isley formed the original lineup of what would be the Isley Brothers in 1954 when he was only 13. Beginning as a gospel quartet, they began singing alongside their father, O'Kelly, Sr. (also a singer in his own right at the time) and their mother Sallye (the group's first pianist). Ronald carried on as the leader of the Isleys after Vernon's tragic death in 1955. In 1957, the Isleys moved out of Cincinnati and headed to New York and began recording doo-wop material for several record labels. After several failed attempts, the brothers hit pay dirt after cultivating a song that had been created after the brothers' inspired performance of Jackie Wilson's Lonely Teardrops in a show at Washington, D.C. in 1959. After signing with RCA, the group released "Shout!", a song that has since become a legendary rock and roll staple. After the group's next big hit, "Twist & Shout", in 1962, and a brief successful stint in Motown, the brothers formed the T-Neck record label (named after their New Jersey hometown) in 1968 and released the hugely-successful funk anthem, "It's Your Thing", which won the group their only Grammy. Ronald could sing rock & roll as well as funk and soul. In fact, Ronald is considered one of the original belters and vocalists of the rock era. After years singing in gritty gospel-infused vocals, Ronald introduced R&B audiences to his piercing falsetto and softer tenor in ballads which led to what critics hailed as some of the greatest love songs of all time including "For the Love of You", "Harvest For the World", "Sensuality", "At Your Best", "Footsteps in the Dark", "I Need Your Body", "Choosey Lover", "Between the Sheets", and "Don't Say Goodnight", among others. He still sung in his gritty tenor in hits like "That Lady", "Live It Up", "Fight the Power" and "Take Me to the Next Phase". After the passing of oldest brother O'Kelly in 1986, Isley began working with soul singer-songwriter-producer Angela Winbush on the next Isley Brothers record, Smooth Sailin'. The album was released in 1987 and it wasn't long before Isley and Winbush had developed a romance. Sharing a duet on Winbush's own Sharp album (the top 40 R&B ballad "Hello, Beloved"), Isley & Winbush's romance blossomed and in 1993, they were married. Winbush continued producing records with Isley for 1989's Spend the Night, 1991's The Tracks of Life (with a revamped version of the Isley Brothers), 1996's Mission to Please (which Isley and Winbush scored a hit duet, "Floatin' On Your Love", whose remix featured Lil' Kim) and 2001's Eternal before Isley & Winbush divorced in 2001. The former couple remains close. Isley also collaborated with Rod Stewart in 1990 on Stewart's cover of the 1966 Isley Brothers hit "This Old Heart of Mine". The collaboration reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, one place higher than the original, and also hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. (Less)
A true Genius Speed Painting Oilpainting Portrait by NOLLE Ludwig van Beethoven (IPA: [English ˈlʊdvɪg væn (More) Oilpainting Portrait by NOLLE Ludwig van Beethoven (IPA: [English ˈlʊdvɪg væn ˈbeɪt.həʊvən; German ˈluːtvɪç fan ˈbeːt.hoːfn]), (baptized December 17, 1770[1] -- March 26, 1827) was a German composer and one of the pillars of European classical music. He is esteemed as one of the greatest composers in the history of music, and was a crucial figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music. His music and his reputation inspired — and in many cases intimidated — ensuing generations of composers, musicians, and audiences.[2] While primarily known today as a composer, Beethoven was also a celebrated pianist. Born in Bonn, Germany, he moved to Vienna, Austria, in his early twenties and settled there, studying with Joseph Haydn and quickly gaining a reputation as a virtuoso pianist. Despite gradual hearing loss beginning in his twenties, Beethoven continued to produce notable masterpieces throughout his life, even when he was totally deaf. Beethoven was also one of the first composers to work freelance — arranging subscription concerts, selling his compositions to publishers, and gaining financial support from a number of wealthy patrons — rather than seek out permanent employment by the church or by an aristocratic court.
