Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply.You can pay Apple to replace your iPod battery, or you can save big bucks by doing it yourself. To complete this How-To you will need:A stiff piece of plastic, like a guitar pickA new iPod batteryStep 1: Buy new batteryGo online and buy a new battery from a site like www.newertech.com. Make sure you get the correct battery for your iPod. Start with your iPod off and the "Hold" switch engaged.Step 2: Pry openPry open the iPod. Wedge a flat piece of durable plastic between the two sides—a guitar pick works well—and gently work it along the sides until you can feel the tabs holding the case together. Unclip them by poking them inward.Warning: If your iPod is less than a year old (or two, if you bought the extended protection plan), opening it will void its warranty.Step 3: SeparateSeparate the two sides, taking care not to sever the thin ribbon cable joining the two parts.Step 4: Remove hard driveCarefully remove the hard drive—it is the part sitting on a piece of blue rubber—by lifting the socket of the cable that connects the hard drive to the board.Step 5: Remove batteryRemove the battery using your wedge, taking care not to touch the circuit board underneath.Tip: Pay attention to how the battery is connected so you can reattach the new one the same way.Step 6: Disconnect power cordDisconnect the battery's power cord from the circuit board. The wires may be wrapped around or under the circuit board; if so, gently pull them free with your pick.Step 7: Wrap power cordAttach the new battery's power cord and wrap it around the edge of the circuit board in the same way as the old cord.Step 8: Attach new batteryInsert the new battery, then reattach the hard drive connector and the hard drive.Step 9: Snap backSnap or screw the two sides of the iPod back together. Recharge your new battery for at least three hours—then enjoy your tunes once again. Thanks for watching How To Replace Your iPod Battery! Customer Reviews:
"I have owned my N810 (affectionately named N8 - or Nate) for about 6 months now and it has become invaluable to me. These are the activities with which I use it: - communication, using Google Voice, or Skype - receiving and sending email, either via included email client, or web-based email - web browsing - watching and saving YouTube videos - tracking and mapping via GPS unit - taking notes - games/entertainment with OS2008 games, or using Palm Emulator and my favorite old Palm Pilot games - listening to music; sound quality is EXCELLENT for a hand-held (and I'm a musician, and picky)! - recording voice notes - taking photos and making small videos for online use - keeping recipes; its small size make it excellent for reading in my tiny kitchen...and I can listen to music at the same time! - reading eBooks - text messaging via Google Voice/wifi There are only a couple of cons that I have found so far. The front-facing camera, intended for use in video conferencing, makes photography tricky at best. This is acceptable to me, though, since it was never meant to replace a digital camera. The other is that the O/S will require a learning curve for the average point-and-click Windows user. While the device is definitely easy to pick up and use with the installed software, and loading new programs from either the Nokia website or the maemo site using the application manager, most more detailed tasks will require a certain amount of learning for most; in short, it ain't Windows :). There are numerous other uses and apps for this device. Even after 6 months I feel I've hardly scratched the surface of its possibilities. It is always on the road with me, has replaced my laptop on weekend trips, and replaced my more cumbersome bedtime books and magazines. It has saved me money in this way, and also in cell phone/texting costs; it has already paid for itself - probably twice over. In short, N8 has replaced both my Zune and my Palm Pilot, and become itself an irreplaceable part of my life."
"This portable device is awesome!...u have it all!..i like it!..the only thing that made me a little bit disappointing was the CAMERA!..i cant use it through video calling using SKYPE!..I dont know why coz all the devices i know with a camera can use for video calling using SKYPE but this is not!..but its ok coz most of the features are ok!..I LOVE IT!... Thanks!"
