Daniel Beliavsky began his professional performance career at the age of fifteen, when Zdenek Macal invited him to perform Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra during the opening concerts of the 1993-1994 subscription season. Since then, Daniel has been engaged numerously as a soloist with orchestra and in recital in both the United States and Europe. He has played twice in Russia in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and has recorded a compact-disc with the Israeli Philharmonic. With orchestra, he has performed numerous concerti, including Liszt No. 1, Rachmaninoff No. 2, Scriabin Op. 20, Prokofiev No. 4 (left hand), Ravel (left hand), Gershwin in F, and Beethoven No. 5, "Emperor."
In 2002, Daniel recorded the first complete collection of Foss' solo piano music on the Sonatabop.com label in honor of Foss' 80th birthday. Daniel's other compact-disc recordings on the Sonatabop.com label are From Italy to Russia, which includes sonatas by D. Scarlatti, the Italian Concerto by J.S. Bach, and Pictures from an Exhibition by M. Mussorgsky, and Ecstasy and Poetry, which consists of multiple pieces by F. Schubert and F. Chopin. John France, of Musicweb-International (UK), noted several first-rate performances on Ecstasy and Poetry, writing, "Could Beliavsky have set a benchmark for all interpretations of the Schubert Impromptu in Gb?"
In addition to being on the national advisory board of the Piano Arts National Concerto and Solo Competition, Daniel is one of sixteen U.S. Steinway Artists to be a Steinway Supporting Personality. After receiving his Bachelor's from Columbia University, Daniel earned a Master's and Ph.D. in music theory and composition from New York University. He is presently on the visiting faculty of several universities in New York City and New Jersey. (Less)
