It is the duty of any human being to question people in power. While voting in elections are important, I believe it is even more important to dissent and hold those in power accountable, no matter which party or which candidate we support during an election. The recent G20 summit in Toronto showed that we cannot trust the police institution to police itself and be transparent in their conducts, we cannot expect the liberal party or the conservative party to conduct a public inquiry on why they allowed our brave and honourable RCMP officers to disengage with the black bloc while rounding up and detaining innocent people. We cannot expect anyone to uphold the laws and constitutional rights for us, we have to do it ourselves. We have seen the same incident in Hong Kong where democratic party has betrayed their supporters by giving into the power and demands of the communist party. No party can be trusted, no politician can be trusted, power must always belong to the people and this is always an ongoing struggle. (Less)
