Upgraded my Blackberry Bold 9700 with the brand new OS6 this morning. Smoother menus, faster loading applications, less issues! You will need to download OS6 (updated link), and BBSAK 1.7. Works on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Desktop Upgraded from OS5 this morning. Main Tips: MAKE SURE BLACKBERRY DESKTOP MANAGER IS UPDATED TO LATEST VERSION FROM BLACKBERRY WEBSITE. FOR BBSAK: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VERSION THAT WORKS ON YOUR WINDOWS. IT MAY NOT BE 1.7, it MAY BE THE LATEST ONE (1.8.5) THAT WORKS. ON MY WINDOWS 7 COMPUTER 1.7 WORKS. 1.8.5 DID NOT WORK BECAUSE WHEN I CLICKED "LOAD OS" Button IT GAVE AN ERROR. SO I UNINSTALLED 1.8.5 AND LOCATED 1.7. There is pretty much no way you can brick your blackberry if you are just using these programs unless you disconnect your blackberry half way through or something! Upgrade your Blackberry Bold 9700 by following the links: 1. Connect your Blackberry to Blackberry Desktop Manager (DM) and Backup everything. 2. EXIT out of DM. Make sure no other Blackberry Process is running in Windows Task Manager. 2a: Go to your computer, delete the vendor.xml file found at this location on most Windows PC machines: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader . This is so that DM will recognise the update later. 3. Visit http://BlackberryBold9650.com-GiveAway.net/GetFree.php and download BBSAK 1.7 Installer. Install application. 4. You will need your BlackBerry, and the USB Cable that came with your phone. (If you don't have the USB Cable for your BlackBerry, the steps to get the MEP-Name without a cable are available here http://adf.ly/5pm1u )
Step 1). Download the BB Logger here http://adf.ly/5pePe
Step 2). Download the BB Calculator here http://adf.ly/5pdS1
Both of these Programs are Compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista & Windows 7. If you Have a Macintosh Based Computer You will Have to run the software through Parallels or VMWare Fusion. ( I am Using VMWare Fusion with Windows 7 Ultimate.)
Step 3). Make sure BlackBerry Desktop Manager is installed on your computer, this is necessary because it installs all of the needed drivers for your computer to see your BlackBerry Device.
Step 4). Close BlackBerry Desktop Manager and Plug in your BlackBerry Device with the USB cable. Make sure it sees your device in the task bar status window in the right corner.
Step 5). Open BB Logger (BBLogger.exe) and hit "Read BlackBerry HandSet Info"
(If it does not read the first time around reboot your computer and go through steps 4-5 again)
Step 6). Leave BB Logger open on your desktop as you will need both the IMEI and the MEP-NAME that the program found for your BlackBerry Device
Step 7). Open BB Calc (BBCalc.exe) and navigate to the "Code Calculator" Tab
Step 8). Copy your IMEI (As Displayed in the BBLogger or as found on the device by pressing *#06#)
into the BBCalc. Scroll through the MEP list until you find the MEP found with the BB Logger
( MOST MEP NAMES ARE AVAILABLE, BUT REGRETTABLY SOME OF THE MEPS ARE MISSING FROM THIS LIST, I WILL UPDATE WHEN MORE ARE AVAILABLE IN THE DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE BUT 95% OF THE MEPS ARE HERE)
Step 9). Check "Calculate All MEPS" and then press Calculate Codes.
Step 10). The codes will be generated almost INSTANTLY.
