Magnum EPP Flying Wing Test Flights Just some clips of me and my dad doing a few test (More) Just some clips of me and my dad doing a few test flights of an electric flying wing made of EPP that we got at Much Marcle for £30. The bag it came in called it a Magnum, though it seems to be a fairly generic/simple model that you can also find under the name of Raven. Building the plane took just one evening and was pretty simple, mostly just gluing and setting up the servos. There is very little to the design, it's simply a wing with some fins and places to mount the gear (as can be seen at 2:19). Being made out of EPP means that it should be more resilient to crash damage and also fairly easy to replace. It performs pretty well in the sky, being responsive and stable and is perfectly capable of aerobatics. It could do to be a bit faster, though we may try a more powerful motor in it. With the current motor it gets 8-9 mins of flying time on a 3S 1300mAh battery. The very first flight wasn't recorded. These is my first powered flight in a long time (having flown gliders in between). My dad is landing it because I never quite mastered that, especially with the big gap. (Less)
