Dance Bands from Paris: Le Jazz De Paris - A Ta… "Le Jazz de Paris" (under the direction of Fernand (More) "Le Jazz de Paris" (under the direction of Fernand Warms) was recording for the Cristal and Cristal 4-Succès labels around 1932, and it seems likely that this small 8" Triomphe disc was produced by the same company. The band's personnel is not known and it appears to have been a studio group assembled for these sessions. Recorded in Paris, 1932. (Less)
Dance Bands from Paris: Fernand Warms et son Jazz… Two excellent and hot fox-trots from 1932 films, (More) Two excellent and hot fox-trots from 1932 films, played by Fernand Warms et son Jazz de Paris. The first number is the Coslow/Robin song "You Little So-And-So," here with French lyrics. The Crystalate company had introduced the Broadcast Four-Tune record in England in 1932 - a 10" 78 rpm disc with a fine groove allowing two full-length dance hits per side - and the 4-Schlager and 4-Succès labels soon followed in Germany and France respectively. Given the low catalogue numbers (the 4-Succès series started at 4001) and their rarity today it seems that the discs were not a commercial success. The narrow groove was prone to excessive wear when played with steel needles and the first part of this copy is quite badly worn; that aside, it's a highly atmospheric recording and a superb band.
