See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Koh Lanta 9th Dec 2005 Woke to torrential rain, checked out of the bungalow and got a lift with the owner to the port. The tide was out so we had to cram 12 people plus luggage onto a long tail boat and get transported to the ferry five mins away, which was very bizarre and seemed very unstable and un-safe in the pouring rain. Kept myself amused with the MP3 and Sara read on the crossing and when we arrived at Ban Sala Dan it was chaos in the rain. The ferry arrives at 1.30pm and every tout on the island is there to greet it to offer accommodation or their taxi service. We had arranged to meet Pow, who was the husband of the lady whose restaurant we had eaten in on 3 or 4 occasions, whilst in Ao Nang. He worked at the dive shop and was due to finish at 4pm when he would collect us and our luggage and take us to some cheap bungalows. He had actually offered to drive us the night before to save us the boat costs, but we had already booked and paid to stay at the bungalows. We ate, shopped and drank until about 4.30pm, but he still hadn't showed up and after making enquiries at the dive shop, we were told he wouldn't be back until 5.30pm today as he had been given a special task of releasing some fish and sea horses into the ocean on behalf of the government. Just our luck..... but to be fair, he wasn't aware of it <b>...</b> (Less)
