Sometimes it produces amazing results, other times not so much. Keying a green screen is never an easy task. So many visual effects in motion pictures and television require green screen work performed by talented and technical artists that it's crazy to think that a built in plugin in an NLE can deliver professional level results every time. Don't get me wrong, the Ultra Key works in "perfect" studio green screen model shots with minor tweaking, but most shots need finesse with the extensive refinement tools. However, it is a good beginner chroma key tool. In this tutorial, I show you the pros and cons of the Ultra Key, what types of shots it works on best, and when it's time to move to The Foundry's Keylight or Red Giant Software's Primatte to get the job done.
