And there are chilling reports of rape in Syria today along with the murder, torture and repression of thousands of innocent civilians."Experts are to be trained to quickly gather evidence of rape in areas of conflict worldwide. They will also help other organizations in the fight against wartime sexual crimes.Jolie, who is a special envoy to the United Nations’ High Commissioner on Refugees (UNCHR), directed the film “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” screened at the Foreign Office afterward. The film, a love story set on the backdrop of the Bosnian war, highlights many of the atrocities committed during the 1992-95 conflict.[William Hague, British Foreign Secretary]: "In the film you bring to life the devastating consequences of inaction in the face of conflict, the appalling human rights abuses that stem from it, and the impact on the lives of women. It is a rallying call that none of us can ignore and today I want to publicly renew the British government's commitment to tackling sexual violence in armed conflict.”The filming of the movie in Bosnia met resistance due to its plot. The story tells of a Serb soldier who re-encounters a former lover, now a Bosnian prisoner during the Balkan War. However, the directorial work of Angelina Jolie has since been lauded. (Less)
Ans-09(studio-b tour)(chuck on ENG camera)(asian… clips from the all night showIn 1980, CFMT made a (More) clips from the all night showIn 1980, CFMT made a bold move by being one of the first stations in Canada to go to 24-hour a day 7 day a week broadcasting with the introduction of The All-Night Show, starring Toronto comedian Chas Lawther, broadcast generally between midnight and 6 AM. The premise was that Lawther's character Chuck the Security Guard had, with the help of his never seen technically minded friend Ryerson (named after Toronto's Ryerson Polytechnic, now Ryerson University), took over the facilities of CFMT and accidentally broadcast their favorite shows over the air while fooling around with the equipment. Dan Iannuzzi, the station's owner at the time, was suitably impressed and gave Chuck and Ryerson their own show. The All-Night Show generally showed re-runs of classic series such as The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and The Prisoner, and filled the space in between with music videos (including old Scopitones), old movie shorts and comedic banter. Lawther became a minor celebrity in Toronto and is still frequently seen on Canadian television. Although the show only lasted one year and ended in a contract dispute (despite surprisingly high ratings even in the days before widespread VCR use), 24 hour a day broadcasting became the standard for almost every television station in the years after the show.Directed by
