I thought you and Megs were in Paris." Ben asked, looking up at me confused as I walked into the locker room. "Something come up, we back early." I shrugged, walking over to Megs' stall beside him a d dropping the suitcase on the bench, only to catch of the name plate on the shelf above it. Nick Leddy. What the hell? I quickly make my way down to Billy G's office, because it's obviously some mistake. "Geno! How was Paris?" he asks with a smile and I shake my head, not caring about Paris. "French. Why Megs' stall say Leddy?" I demanded and he frowned, sliding back in his chair and sitting up straighter. "Geno, why don't you sit down-" "I no sit. Why it say Leddy?" I demanded and he sighed. "What you said about Megs not being the same and needing to get away for a while really got me thinking. You were so right. So when I heard Chicago was shopping Leddy - more like Captain Serious was getting uncomfortable with his wife and her ex staying so close - I figured I'd offer poor Coach Q something to ease the tension building on his team. Megs gets some much needed time away where her success doesn't affect our team and she's still surrounded by people who love her, while we get a great Dman to fill her spot until she's ready to come back." "I no believe you! Did even ask if she want trade?" I nearly shouted and he looked up at me surprised, "Billy, her friends here, her daughter here, her studio here! Why think she want to leave Pittsburgh?" "I think I know what's best for-" "Billy, you always treat Megs like daughter, but she not. She grow woman, not child, she know what best for self." "Yes but she hardly ever does what's best for herself." "Because Penn! She put her daughter first, like mother should. She hate be round Sidney, but he like father to Penn so she put her first." "I think, for the time being, what's best for Penn is Megs putting herself first. If Megs is in a better place mentally, she'll be able to be a better mother to Penn." "Megs is great mother! How you say she not?" I yelled and he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Listen, I'm going to tell you exactly what I told Megan this morning when she stormed into this office, guns blazing, just like you. I am simply doing what I believe is best for this team and all those on it and one day you will thank me for it." I shook my head, not wanting to hear his stupid excuse, "You better not ruin everything, Billy." I warned before storming back into the locker room. "Geno? I thought you weren't coming back until after the Allstar game? Is everything all right?" Sid asked, looking up from his untied skates. "Megs get traded to-" Before I could finish, Sidney's phone started blaring and he smiled apologetically at me before answering it. "Hell-Kat? What's wrong?" he asked, confused and my interested peaked. Please be nothing wrong with Penn, "What do you mean Megs is at the house? Why would she -- wait lawyer? Judge? Kat you're not making any sense! I'll be right there." "What happen?" I asked and he shook his head, visibly shaken. "Megs wants to take Penn to Chicago." He said, dumb founded and my heart pulled for my best friend. "Can I come? I need talk Megs." "Of course." He answered, slipping into his captain voice as he obviously tried to process it all.
