Select AMC theaters will be playing the first two installments in the batman trilogy, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back-to-back---finally leading up to the midnight release of The Dark Knight Rises----and here is the KICKER!!!! All three will be showin in IMAX!!!!!!!!!!!Given that this is supposedly nolans last dance with the bat, we aren't shocked that he would want to go out with a huge, beautiful imax bang... Variety has also reported that Batman Begins is being converted to digital IMAX for the first time in order to be projected on the big, big screen in front of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises-talk about commitment! Batman Begins was released in 55 IMAX theaters back in 2005, but this will be its first time in digital IMAX.As we previously reported, the trilogy marathon is taking place at 296 AMC locations, 76 of which will be in IMAX. The imax marathon will cost $40 while the non imax will cost 25...I say skip the popcorn and go for the imax----so what do you guys think? Will you be checking out the marathon come july? The rest of the movie is presented in 35 millimeter, a squatter, more rectangular look that may be likened to letterbox. When talking about the impact the IMAX has on the film, Nolan said,"The sharpness and the depth of the image, projected onto those enormous screens, is simply the best quality image that has ever been invented," he went on to say, "It helps make the audience really feel like they're in the picture....It's also very bright on the screen because there's a tremendous amount of light that can be projected on that large frame. The Imax screens are almost twice the brightness of regular screens."SO we get it, this epic grand finale couldn't be done in any other way than the great and powerful IMAX! Also, warner brothers just released these photos from the dark knight rises, that we just love!
