Echoes of Yourself in The Mirror: TRAILER I have recently completed a film on AIDS that I (More) I have recently completed a film on AIDS that I directed, produced and edited. "Echoes of Yourself in The Mirror: AIDS The Long Journey to Good Bye"; gives an overview of where we are at with the pandemic currently. As well as what was going in the early days of San Francisco's effort to figure out what they were dealing with and how to stop it. Cleve Jones, the creator the National AIDS Memorial Quilt is one of the major speakers in the movie. As is Dr. Andrew Jolivette an assistant professor in the American Indian Studies Department a part of the Ethnic Studies Program at San Francisco State University. During our filming in 2005 Dr. Jolivette disclosed his HIV/AIDS positive status. The speech that followed during World AIDS Day has been called riveting. Andrew and Cleve both speak to the impact of: poverty, gender roles, stigma, media access, social activism, patent law, reliable information, youth and medical access on HIV/AIDS transmission. The world has grown and shrank all at the same time. Derethia Duval says in our interview "The fact that you can fly around the world in a day means that what happens in Africa or Asia impacts me. If some one over there is suffering from AIDS then I am suffering from AIDS. . . " The film examines the dramatic problems that young people and marginalized community are facing. You will find the issues facing our various communities well addressed in this project from the points of view of young women, adult professionals, people of color, and the critical eye of this filmmaker. The film is set in San Francisco and on the campus of San Francisco State University. "Echoes of Yourself in The Mirror: AIDS The Long Journey to Good Bye", walks the path that human beings need to walk to see that HIV/AIDS is a human story. HIV/AIDS is not a story boxed in by gender, sexuality, race, proximity to a major city or a continent of people that only speak a language other than yours. AIDS is a human problem. I am hoping that by hosting sets of panels and forums in conjunction with the film/project that there will be a dialogue that happens across socio-economic and cultural lines. Hopefully the dialogue will be one that lends itself to participation from various groups in the community, and at local colleges. We believe that dialogue will encourage the collaboration of diverse groups working to build up public involvement with the problem of HIV/AIDS. I hope you are willing to work with this project on what ever level you are comfortable with or have time for. That could be as simple as pointing us in the direction of places that might consider hosting a showing, or passing this email along to someone that has an interest in seeing a forum with a panel take place in their community in conjunction with the film. I open to all kinds of possibilities everything counts. I hope I haven't taken too much of your time. If you have any interest in a project like "Echoes of Yourself in The Mirror: AIDS The Long Journey to Good Bye'"; I would like to talk to you about about this. I look forward to hearing from you if you are so inclined. All my best, Robert Fischer Sol-A-Koa Prod. Ltd. www.Sol-A-Koa.com (Less)
