This (More) Yes, you heard me right. I am playing Strider Returns on Sega Gensis/Megadrive emulator...
This game is perhaps one of the most annoying games ever created in all aspects. Gameplay is horrible and difficult of the game itself is insane and unfair. Most areas of games require quite alot of trial and error as you move forward. Part four is here.
Now when it comes to the audio, i would say this level is rape to your ears. There is some grunting sound effect playing on background most of the time and it is driving me nuts. Level is called "The Alien Depths", guess it has something to do with that. This is simple plain level with not much platforms to climb and stuff like that. Too simple and too less time to go around the places. Ran out of time at boss level but i managed to beat him before i died.
Next level we are going to play is the last level of this horrible game. Called "The Masters Prison Ship" (Less)
Historic Douglas SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber This video is of the not-so-especially exciting but oh, so historic Douglas Dauntless SBD U.S. Navy (More) This video is of the not-so-especially exciting but oh, so historic Douglas Dauntless SBD U.S. Navy dive bomber of WWII.
I put together this video at the request of an enthusiastic YouTube viewer. All the footage is of the Planes of Fame Museum's (Chino, California) very rare Douglas SBD.
I had the honor of meeting Lt. Richard Best (U.S. Navy, Annapolis Class of 1932) at one of the Planes of Fame Museum's monthly seminars and got to talk to him about his historic actions flying the SBD at the Battle of Midway during WWII. This was very shortly before his death at age 92 in 2002. Lt. Best was featured in the National Geographic Magazine cover feature of April 1999. Lt. Best put the first bomb into the deck of the Japanese carrier Akagi and was credited with the sinking of that ship. I haven't read this anywhere elso before, but Lt. Best told me that he put a second bomb into the Agagi that wiped out most of the Zeroes parked on the carrier's deck. He also put a bomb into the carrier Hiryu. Not too shabby a record for one mission, no? Ironically, this was Lt. Best's first and last combat mission. His lungs were damaged by the aircraft's oxygen system when the system ran low on oxygen (calcium hydroxide burning - please check my recollection of the facts on this) and he never flew again as a result. He later contracted tuberculosis but recovered to live to a ripe old age. It was just fascinating talking to him about his wartime experiences. (Less)
