1984-Ray Parker Jr - Ghostbusters What rhymes with "Ghostbusters"? No doubt about it, Ray Parker Jr. had a daunting task (More) What rhymes with "Ghostbusters"? No doubt about it, Ray Parker Jr. had a daunting task before him when he was asked to write the title theme for a major motion picture that starred Saturday Night Live alumni Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray along with Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Not only that, he had just a few days to complete the entire track. During a pre-release screening of the movie, Parker noticed that the ghost-busting quartet had their own telephone number which gave him the idea the song should be like a commercial. After hearing Parker's finished track, the movie's director, Ivan Reitman, thought that it should be a single, which took Parker somewhat aback as he was used to singing about girls not ghosts. The million-selling "Ghostbusters" went to number one R&B for two weeks and number one pop for three weeks in the summer of 1984. (Less)
Ray Parker, Jr. - Jamie This is one my favorite artists growing up. This Detroit native started off appearing on guitar (More) This is one my favorite artists growing up. This Detroit native started off appearing on guitar sessions with the great production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, working with The Temptations, Freda Payne, and Stevie Wonder; among others. Appearing on classic albums like Stevie Wonder's "Picture Book" and "Innervisions", it was only a matter of time for Ray Parker, Jr. to expand his horizons and become a recording artist, so he formed the group, "Raydio". Their first single, "Jack & Jill", had peaked to #5 on the R&B charts in 1977, and the hit "You Can't Change That" in 1979 (one of my favorites). Later on, pursuing solo projects throughout the 80's with songs like "A Woman Needs Love", "The Other Woman", "Girls are More Fun", and the megahit theme to "Ghostbusters". From his 1984 album entitled, "Chartbusters", this is "Jamie"...she used to be my girl, too :P enjoy!!!!! (Less)
